Here is your alternative: ACI surgery
I dislocated my kneecap as a senior in high school, in the process I ripped off a ton of cartilage from the back of my patella. This surgery was recommended... Honestly, it seemed like it sucked, so I decided to do nothing. Scar tissue has since formed over my patella making it bearable to run, but I know my clock is ticking. Eventually I will have to get a knee replacement, but I am too young for it right now.

You’re an idiot. Medicare would pay me $1,124.62 for a partial arthroplasty. What you got billed and what the surgeon was actually reimbursed for much more than 15 min work are different. My suggestion to those of you that think the grand the surgeon makes is still too much would be to spend all of your 20’s and half of your 30’s learning how to fix your own knee and then do it for cheaper.

I'm certain you're grossly understating the time for that.
No, mine was just a partial knee replacement. I asked my doc how long it would take and he said I would spend about 15 minutes on the table. He’s the best knee and hip surgeon in the state and did a fine job. He had six surgeries scheduled that day.

It wasn’t Medicare, dipshit. It was real insurance.

STEM Cell injection into the knee joint.
Supposed to regrow cartilage in the knee joint space and can be accomplished in one injection.

Had this done and it's awesome.. No pain at all, for now.
The worst part though was 6 weeks of not being able to touch the ground at all with the leg. shite is hard to do.

He lied or you misinterpreted him. And often uni arthroplasties take longer than totals. Either way if he’s taking 15 minutes skin to skin then thats too quick. A water tight skin closure to protect against infection in and of itself prob takes at least 5-10 mins.

I thought the all-knowing, most wonderful Barack Obama fixed that.

I had a TKR on my Rt. Knee, but only after it quit working as a knee.It wouldn't straighten out.
I had 2 rounds of injections under my knee cap, where cartilage should have been,of something made from Rooster Combs.
It actually helped for a little while.
My Steel Knee is my good knee now.
Good luck.

I basically have no cartilage in my knees. My doctor told me I'm too young for a knee replacement. (I'm 31) She said there is nothing we can do right now. Is she an idiot and should I see another doctor?

No shite. I fell off a motorcycle and had to have a partial knee replacement. The bill was $55,000. The surgeon's share for 15 minutes of work was $4,800. The bill for using the operating room for that 15 minutes was $22,000. I paid $4,000 out of pocket. Medical costs are way out of control.
I'd pay twice that amount to not walk with a limp or need a cane.

Both of my knees are shot. Blew both out playing football in HS. Laying in bed, my left knee bends backwards. That is makes me jump out the bed every time.
So my list of things that are broke is longer then what is not. Yep, sure sign of old age.

I've heard recovery from knee replacement is usually quicker than a scope.
I don't know if that is true or not, but my dad and grandfather both had knee replacements and got back to walking around like normal quicker than I did after 2 scopes. But I will admit, they are both tougher than I am. They never get sick and have an amazingly high pain threshold and/or tolerance.

I've had both, and the scope was a breeze. New knee was the best thing I've done.
It's not easy or fun, but worth it. Other one will be done eventually, but I won't wait until the pain is unbearable like I did for the first one.

Look into stem cell therapy.
