I can understand Gilbert. But you took one of the best closers (Hess) in America and tried make him a starter and Peterson ain't never done anything. Let's be honest fans we are weaker at every position this year except 2 outfield positions, which are returning starters and maybe 1st. I see why we were picked 4th in the west. Probably lucky if we finish that high. I hate to say it but I will this team will not make post season.

Hess was a starter at LSU before he was a closer.

PM has won 1376 Games so I think he knows what he is doing and does not need any help!

Ok, so who should've started on Saturday?

By the way, Hess as the closer wouldn't have helped us in either of the losses. In the one save opportunity we had, we did fine without Hess.

What's your point?

How many save opportunities were there this past weekend to deploy Hess as a closer?

My point is he may be more comfortable closing but I do understand the current situation

Same was said for Louis Coleman in 2009.

We are better at shortstop and left field for sure. And i expect our rf to be the same, and the cf to be the same if not slightly better.

I think smith has a similar glove, and a better arm. Definitely will be a better hitter

I’m sure Coach PM is one of the downvotes.

I love early baseball season. Because nothing points out the morons quicker than an early season lost series

I'm just gonna copy and paste my post from another thread since it applies here.

You would think after 6 straight national seeds and an appearance in the championship series last year would give a hall of fame coach some cache. If only there were evidence of LSU starting slow and finishing strong under Mainieri, that would probably give LSU fans pause before being ready to blow up the season after 1 series.

I could understand if this wasn't a proven coach we were talking about.

Smith had three errors this weekend. Not a good start to the season.

You're a fricking lunatic, he was a freshman last season. Give the kid time to stretch out. Not a great first start but come the frick on...its February.
