So you’ve determined that this is what “liberals” want just because the kids are on tv?

Meh, if their parents didn't take there child to a few movies as soon as the movie comes out then they would have enough money to pay for their own child's classroom supplies.

Nothing more asinine than gun cult worshippers. Man they care more about their guns than kids. Thoughts and prayets bs for enablets of death.

When was the last time Republicans put kids on TV en masse who supported their views?
I'm still waiting for you to answer my question.

What's more asinine is someone who doesn't realize that guns can be used in self defense to save kids' lives.

Yeah, I’m sure this policy and weekly outrage will affect real change. How about increase funding for school security if you really want to do something.
Lock the schools down. Deploy metal detectors.
So many preventative measures besides straight to “No more guns”.
People are idiots.
They're the ones being killed so you can have the Second Amendment, say maybe they should have a say?

There are more adults killed by guns than children so maybe adults should have a bigger say.

I dunno. The standard "throw more money at it till it is solved" never works, but here we go again. People wanting to throw money into more of this and that when we've got a bigger problem now than before ever spending a dime on it.
Perhaps money is a part of the problem and not an answer?

They're probably extemely bright, and I have no problem with the fact that they have the beliefs of their parents, but I find it weird when people act like they came up with their views independently and critically; although, I'm confident that they would eventually.
quote:Well it's their Constitutional right to do that, so I think the retort would be to highlight the Constitutionality of their views but also the right to bear arms.
That's fine with me as long as they don't go on TV en masse and demand that the adults immediately make a law that violates any of our constitutional rights.

Liberals never met a young child that they didn't want to exploit.

this isn't a one-sided affair

quote:I don't get why you say this all the time. I'm against the ideas the students are arguing for, and I'm not moderate about that. In fact I feel pretty strongly about the principles and ideals that are important to me. For example, I strongly support lower taxes so I've gotten into many arguments with the left on Twitter when they criticize tax reform and any tax breaks.
You're such a moderate! It's so refreshing to us all. Thank you.
If you haven't noticed, these threads where you call me an argument, are usually something like "why does the left so this ridiculous thing" or something like "the left is evil, mentally ill, or doesn't care about America." That have nothing to do with policy or objectivity, and I see the same things they are accusing the left of from the right and I see similar accusations about the right from the left.
If it makes you feel any better, I do the same thing when my left leaning friends or left leaning individuals on reddit or social media make similar claims about the right.
It bothers me because I think a major problem with the political environment is the exteme in-group and out-group mentalities about things that aren't really ideological but are arbitrarily defined by ideology. My liberal and conservative friends value many of the same things like hard work, family, respect, etc.
In fact, one of my closest friends from Tennessee is a hard core evangelical conservative while one of my closest friends here is extemely atheist liberal. Yet, besides religion and some aspects of politics it would he easy to argue that are clones of one another. They have the same profession, the same hobbies, interests, personality traits, etc., and have even told stories about things they did in high school that were exactly the same. It's absolutely crazy how similar they are, yet their political identications are about as far apart as possible that reasonable people (not communists or something) can get.
And if that makes me a moderate, then I'm fine with that, which you should have figured out by now since you've been calling me that for years.

Wow, it's great to finally agree with you about something.
I mean, there is a logical reason why we don't let 16 year olds vote.
Posted on 2/17/18 at 7:44 pm to DawgfaninCa
We agree on a lot of things. You just take things more seriously than I do.

quote:I didn't say put their kids on TV en masse in my initial post, which is why I clarified what I was referring to in my response. But to answer your question I don't remember this happening on the right, but then again, the only time I remember this at all is after these school shootings. And given the trauma of the experience, and that "banning guns" would be an understandable emotional reaction for someone in an irrational state, I can't say for sure that their leftists for sure. They're just using leftist reasoning because they are in that irrational state.
So when was the last time Republicans put kids on TV en masse who supported their views?
quote:I didn't. I said "I THINK," not "YOU MUST."
Don't tell me how I should express myself.
quote:You do have the right to say that. I'm just saying that IN MY OPINION, when arguing for a constitutional right, it's not more effective to argue for that right and criticize the argument itself than just criticizing people for exercising another constitutional right.
Children have the constitutional right to say whatever they want but I have the constitutional right to say I don't think they should go onTV en masse
Your point makes sense that you would prefer they didn't do that, but I don't think it's an effective retort to focus on that instead of the argument itself and the importance of our rights. But I wasn't telling you what to do or not to do.

You enjoy dickering with people over little things.
When I'm being attacked for telling the truth, I have to be more serious about it than someone who isn't being attacked for telling the truth.
Nevertheless, I look forward to agreeing with you about something in the future.
