Things are not looking good. I think the new management is making the hard decisions, but it's not looking good. The debt is out of control.

Crap. Wish I had known that. I'd have sold it when it was over $3.

You make bad decisions. It's like you're trying to lose money.

I know the debt is 3 or 4 times the value of the company, anyway a friend just bought a bunch. I told him it was risky, they have been selling stuff and laying off people. Not a good sign, Thanks.

I have been loading up on this stock for the long term. Current leadership is making the right decisions.

I've been wanting to get in but I think we will see a drip in oil again so I am hesitant.

They’ve been making the only “decisions” available!

Management has done a decent job making a dent in their LT Debt 12.9 Bn to 9.9 Bn from EOY 2013 to now. Problem is they only have so many assets to sell to pay it down.

I've got some shares that I sell monthly calls on to try and generate some value from their high volatility, and make up for the loss in share price. I think the only way I will see some value out of CHK though will be for natural gas prices to make a positive run in the next year or two which will help inflate their assets that they are trying to unload to drive down their LT debt.

You touch on the problem...selling down the assets reduces the LT debt but now you have less assets to offset the remaining debt. The asset base just didn't have the juice. It's a catch-22 for mgmt.

You ever run a company into the ground so badly that you drive full speed into a bridge instead of fixing the mess you made?

That's Chesapeake.

My geologist friend says he can not understand how the company pays the light bill.

Run.

I bought some shares and lost money.

I’m sure at some price there is value, but I must have paid too much.

Good luck.

It's basically a penny stock. Is there upside? Of course. But it is not an established company worthy of calling it a value or contrarian play. It is probably just a doomed energy company that will fall to oblivion like so many others in that sector. Might be worth a few grand if you wouldn't miss it.
