Age doesn't have anything to do with it. Some people are more mature and more financially stable (or at least more financially responsible) at 23 than others.
I think you are correct, and it appears the father of the groom does not believe his son falls in this category

Don’t worry, your celebratory “my son got divorced today” thread is not long away

Why?
At the upper end of that, I wouldn't want to have more than 2 kids, and only if I had both of those by the time I'm 37. Even then, you're pushing 58 by the time those kids get out of college.
I could see at the lower end, but I have some friends that shouldn't even get married at that age.
That's why I don't think age matters. It's the maturity of the person to deal with what comes with marriage and being an adult. There's no age or age range that says a person is ready for that. Every person is different.

Of course there are outliers, and there have been many successful, happy marriages of people married in their low 20s, and that will continue to happen in the future. But statistically speaking, people married in their upper 20s and low 30s have the lowest divorce rate. They have been able to establish themselves financially and in their careers. They are fully independent adults.

For the record...we had a child at 18 (now at LSU), got married at 24, and have been together 23/married 17 years. Have 3 boys now all doing exceptionally well. Both of us have college degrees, and in a nice comfy tax bracket. That being said It’s all about priorities whether a marriage works, or not. We had all the strain of the world with a child that young. However, every other one of both of our siblings are now divorced. We are still rolling strong. We spent a hell of a lot of time together early on hanging out, and staying home due to finances. Sometimes struggles bring a couple closer as long as they aren’t immediate gratification freaks.
