Those saying we should draft a wr

Not sure I get why. I get it that our guys had trouble getting open at times, but I also noticed Brees under throwing on the out routes, so how will a deep threat help?
Spend the first round pick on BPA on defense. Wait till the third round to draft a TE. I just think we get more value with a round 3 TE than a Rd 1 receiver. I'm sure we can get an elite level TE in the 3rd. And that's where we make our money.

We need a good slot guy to help on 3rd downs. Unless Snead returns to 2016 form, that’s a need. Better TE would alleviate some of that need.

I agree. We were 22nd in the league on 3rd down.

Brees had above a 70% completion rate. How can you possibly argue he was the problem? Our receiving core needs help.

WR and TE are only the only weak spot on the offense. Getting help at both is key. Unfortunately TE is one of the slowest positions to develop so I would rather sign one and draft WR. In general we just need to be constantly improving the weapons around Brees. As his skills will decline we need to put the best pieces of his career surrounding him so we can continue to have a top tier offense. Snead and Coleman aren’t bad players but they’re far from differences makers, and Ginn had a great year but isn’t getting any younger either. Finding someone who can keep MT from being doubled would make this offense impossible to defend.

another burner will definitely help limit double teams. Carolina only had to account for 1 burner and they still fricked that up in the playoff game. Give teams 2 burners with Drew chucking it and the pressure starts mounting on a defense.
I actually agree with the assessment of adding a TE off the market. Burton or ASJ both are basically in their primes and could bring something to the offense.
As for 1 area we tend to be pretty consistent at hitting in the draft I do trust our eval process for WRs from almost anywhere in the draft.
Outside of that we need to find a 3rd RB...hopefully we have some UDFA magic left in us. Been a while since we hit there with the likes of a PT, Ivory, Joique, etc. Would be really nice to find someone late or UDFA again.
Then we just need to add some OL depth which we have plenty of mid round picks to address that with.
I cant wait for FA to start provided Mickey does the right thing and locks up a certain someone before it starts

people say WR because its easier to become familiar with skill players coming out. Drafting a WR with no 2nd Rd pick would be stupid

We definitely need help at wr. Lot of FA options available as well.

Pick 1 up in FA, save the picks for defense and an a tackle.

I know that Jarvis is going to be expensive, but I think he's worth every penny. Michael Thomas and Ginn on the outside with Jarvis in the slot is absolutely scary.

He wants 14+ million a year. He is using the Adams deal as his benchmark.
Hard pass. If Saints are smart they can resign Okafor, get a slot WR, and make a run at a Burton or ASJ type for just a tad more money.
I would rather us continue to be smart with our funds and get as much all around depth as possible.

Not first round, Trey Quinn in the 3rd or 4th and call it a day. Cooper Kupp impact immediately.

There wouldn't be at all really had Snead not gone into witness protection this year. His only memorable play the entire year was the 4th down catch at Minnesota

WR tend to transition into the NFL easier than TE. Regardless, its two positions we need to address via FA or draft.
WR talent can be found in the 3rd round and even in the 4th. Even the 2nd if they think a guy is worth it, would probably take the 3rd+4th. I'd be opposed to that since we could realistically move up from 4th to get another 3rd instead.
2017:
Juju Smith-Schuster 62nd pick (3rd to last in the 2nd)
Cooper Kupp 69th pick (5th pick in the 3rd)
Chris Godwin 84th pick (20th pick in the 3rd)
Kenny Golladay 96th pick (last pick in the 3rd --- not including comp picks)
Dede Westbrook 110th pick (3rd pick in the 4th)
There's WR talent you can find, this draft is supposedly just as deep at WR and RB compared to last year. Deeper at mid-range TE too.

If Chark drops to the 4th or Equanimeous drops to the 6th, take a chance on one of them. If the Saints draft board shows a great value WR drop to the 4th round or later, then we can grab a WR.
We'll see what happens.

Rookie receivers usually need a year or two to blossom in the NFL. The Saints have a small window left with Brees. Maybe they sign another under-the-radar free agent like Ginn, who had a great season. Any good slot guys coming onto the market?

I'm on the Paul Turner pain train. West Monroe boy, needs to become Lance Moore.
