Spoilers below

Holy interracial relationships Batman.

Luke’s mom and dad. The principal and Luke’s mom. And Luke and the principals daughter. Had me not believing the white girl with a white dad and a black mom with a black son, they should have switch those to make the blend perfect.

Kate comes to grip with herself as a lesbian and snags the hot chick from the guy who dumps her to go to NY. And why did he leave when he said he wouldn’t leave her? And not even tell her goodbye? All men are assholes angle probably.

Don’t know why they left out Hispanic and Asian people, but at least they didn’t have any heterosexual relationships, so I guess that makes it ok.

A tad over the top and analogous their movie was about aliens.

Nah. The movie portrayed everyone as interracial why not include Hispanics? They always seemed to be left out.

Also would have been better if the girl would have got with Luke. But no she had to be gay. Sucks the cool black kid couldn’t even get an even shake. But the dopey white principal gets with his mom smh, yeah right.

Watched 2 episodes and I'm done. Each was good for a half smile now and then, but it just wasn't funny.

I find the 2 white nerds to be over the top and unlikeable. The white lesbo is too unattractive with too deep of a voice. The interracial relationships are too forced - I loved the 90s, but forcing today's social issues into it just doesn't work.

Also, where are the jocks and cheerleaders? Those 2 drama kids walk around like they own the school - their heads would've been flushed daily back at my school.

It's a slow burn at the start. You seem predisposed to not liking it, so I don't know if it would be of benefit to encourage you to finish the season.

As a 90's kid, I really wanted to like it. But this thread is full of mostly "meh", "it's ok", "not terrible" reviews. The first 2 episodes only confirmed those reviews for me. It just oesn't seem like the juice is worth the squeeze.

With 2 small kids, I don't watch much TV so I'd rather not waste further time on it.

I think over the next decade, we'll start seeing a lot more 90's throwbacks, as 90's kids reach the age of producing shows (much like we've been seeing of the 80s in recent years). So I'm excited for that.

That’s not really a social issue and it’s something that deffinitly happened in the 90s

The tepid response to the first two episodes or so is 100% warranted. The overarching point from those of us who enjoyed the entire season is that once it gets going, it's really cute.

Of course, but I don't recall seeing that as a focal point of tv shows and movies back then. Are there any intraracial relationships in this show?

You're telling me the Luke kid is half-white?

I did laugh at that when they showed his dad.

I watched the whole season for some reason. All the nostalgia was just way over the top, was way too forced. Everyone seemed way too cool with PC stuff that people would of flipped their shite about in the 90s.

I feel like a lot of people in this thread think the rest of the country in the mid 90's had the same hangups that Louisiana and the deep south had in the mid 90's.

I didn’t live in the south for a lot of the 90s. I didn’t live in Louisiana at all in the 90s. Left in the late 80s.

Not sure how progressive Boring actually is though, it’s kinda close to Portland. Not sure how rural it was in the 90s, rural Oregon isn’t that progressive.

Edit: It leaned Republican.

I’m pretty moderate to liberal on social issues. This just seemed a bit out of place without having much backlash. They kind showed a bit of that with the lesbian issue in the beginning and just let it go as the show progressed.

Mrs. White was recently watching this - I found it somewhat odd that the Emaline character was topless a good bit early on it seemed. Now that I know the actress is 20...

The prinicipal's daughter reminded me of Dustin from Stranger Things. The soundtrack almost makes the show worth it - some great throwbacks.
