It felt like a SJW piece on mental illness

How’s it been so far? I’m avoiding reading the thread since I’m waiting until all of the episodes have aired so I can binge this shite. Loved the first season.

Second season had been great up until last night’s episode

I think the second season has been very good so far. It would be hard to top season 1, so I want to be fair about evaluating it. Like season 1, however, all of the elements won't come into full focus until it's complete. I'll wait till the season ends before making a final judgement.

last night's episode was odd buy I enjoyed it.
was an interesting take on David and the many branches of time that could (do?) co-exist with what he believes is his reality.
some of the scenes were just uncomfortable (the old man getting taken care of by his wife) and some had a slow build for a payoff (stacking boxes at the dairy)
him becoming a billionaire by reading minds was a cool branch.

This episode seemed like an homage to David and his sisters relationship, plus a general summary of where were at. I guess they wanted to pump the breaks after the ending of the previous episode. I didnt like it much or think this was necessary, but maybe theres a reason for it down the line.

I assumed that was his sister Amy still taking care of him, but you may be right about it being his wife.
I still can't believe Amy (Katie Asleton) is married to Pete (Mark Duplass) from the League in real life.
But yeah this episode was clearly an excuse for them to work out the multiple worlds/universes theory which is quite popular in modern Quantum Physics/Mechanics.

I have to be honest, I have no idea what was the point of the episode tonight. I don’t have a clue what it was trying to convey or what it had to do with the overall story arc.
The last 2 episodes have felt like stand alone crazy, but there always seems to be some method to the madness. I have a feeling these 2 will look better on a rewatch.

They showed the flashback of Farouk telling him he makes his own reality. I'm wondering if David is going to take pieces/experiences from his other timelines to use in his current timeline.

I've got 2 thoughts on why show us this episode.
1) It could take multiple Davids to defeat the upcoming threat and so we will see one of them again
2) One of these Davids (prob the billionaire with a God complex) is the future threat Syd warned about. hence the "its good to see you like this again"

Surprised no one has weighed in on last night's episode yet. I thought it was a great return to form after the last two episodes (both still good though). I actually thought it was one of the best episodes of the series. I don't know if the narration was necessary about planting an idea which can eventually grow to be a monster (we can figure that out for ourselves) but I love the way it was portrayed. Still a lot of excitement ahead and to be honest, I have no idea where this is going. It seemed going into the season that another David vs. Shadow King showdown was the end game but now I'm not so sure. It seems likely that a turning of David into something darker is coming before season's end.

i was too lazy to bump.
great episode i agree. that entire ending sequence was great. that big bug was freaky. what the frick was that?
the farooq/future syd meeting was cool too.
so many questions still. the big one being obviously how does david end the world

I wonder if David can manifest a "version" of himself that he is trying to get rid of. Trying to get rid of the bad side of himself but it becomes too powerful because the powers are based on emotion. Maybe Farouk is teaching David to be able to control his powers instead of just expel the bad parts.

this shite is dumb, i'm over it. donezo. they started out great, now its just a cerebral circle jerk with no substance and an unoriginal plot.

Finally got a chance to catch up on this season, and I'm happy I did. While some episodes have seemed to be some fillers at this point, I'm just in awe of the whole series. The shadow king seems pretty unstoppable at this point. It'll be interesting to see where the rest of the season goes.
Syd needs to get over herself. I don't really care for her arc at this point, and I just hope she figures out her place soon.

I don't think the plot is the problem. To me 2 really big things have changed.
1) They lost the creepiness factor that came from the yellow eyed demon and the angriest boy. Those 2 added just the right amount of skin crawling tension to season 1 and there isn't anything comparable in season 2.
2) Aubrey Plaza is no longer the main villain. She was absolutely killing it in season 1 as the main face of Farouk.
I still like season 2 and I can see enough threads that I think what looks like filler now won't be in the end, but season 2 has definitely not been as wild a ride as season 1, even if it's just as crazy.

The first season was amazing, but I agree this season hasn't been nearly as good. I think they raised the stakes too quickly, and the show would have been better if it had stayed grounded some. I realize he can literally do anything, but the show should have led into that more slowly.
One thing I have noticed, they aren't using the music as well as they did season one. I kind of miss some of the musical cues that I heard a lot in season 1.

Last night's episode was pretty good.
Melanie might be going insane right in front of our eyes, which isn't surprising considering the things she's seen. It would certainly make one question their own reality. The shadow king knows she is weak, and he will use her how he needs.
I'm also happy Lenny's storyline is starting to pick up.

I guess we are going to see next episode why David is going to be the eventual threat.

Has it been mentioned that the Jon Hamm segments are amazing?

They're really good. I like the one about how humans are the only creature on planet that can go mad, because our reality is shaped by what we are taught and not by instinct.
