1. He can block
2. He can catch
3. He won't cost a ton of $$
4. No injury history
5. He will make the pass that Willie Snead couldn't

6. Imagine Drew catching a TD pass from him.

then why wouldn't 32 teams be lining up for his services?

he may be the highest paid TE in free agency this offseason

Because tight ends don't cost 8 figures Chad. We can also extend you and your punting for more cap space

Just checked out Spotrac. They only have a predicted market value for 6 UFA TE's. They're just making an educated guess, so this isn't anything official. I think Burton has the fewest question marks, but I'm not sure which way I'd go. No way in hell would I give glass man Eifert a 4-year deal though.
Tyler Eifert 4 yrs, $30,440,828. Average Salary: $7,610,207
Trey Burton 3 yrs, $21,037,599. Average Salary: $7,012,533
Jimmy Graham 3 yrs, $20,194,848. Average Salary: $6,731,616
Austin Seferian-Jenkins 3 yrs, $12,459,294. Average Salary: $4,153,098
Ed Dickson 3 yrs, $10,759,427. Average Salary: $3,586,476
Luke Wilson 2 yrs, $7,141,438. Average Salary: $3,570,719

Easily would take Burton or Graham at that cost.

If Eifert could just stay healthy I’d take him in a heartbeat

What makes you say that? Because he threw a pass in the super bowl?
Dude had one catch during the entire playoffs and his 629 career receiving yards in 61 games isn't exactly eye-opening.
He does not have the numbers to warrant a big contract. If he gets one, let's hope it's not from us.

I'll take ASJ with Hill and Hooman

ASJ doesn't have the highest ceiling, but that's the way to go if you want legit production for a reasonable price imo. I guess it just depends on what CSP & Ireland want to invest in the TE position. Hopefully they make the right decision.

I’d rather a solid TE and grab another good-great WR.

I said the same thing last week before the game. And I say that bc a lot of teams have money to spend and are in need of a TE1. He's athletic and doesnt kill you in the blocking game. The analytical GMs will love him. On a per target basis he was only behind Gronk in net expected points. He produced when he played.

The Eagles liked him enough to put a 2nd round tender on him as a RFA
He's a converted QB/WR who has played behind Zach Ertz his whole career, ya, he doesnt have the numbers.
Check the tape on the games Ertz's missed this season. Your analysis is lazy

what did Fleener originally sign for? I mean it seems like we overpaid for him but I don't really know jack about what the market value is these days.

Trey Burton
I have always liked his athleticism, even in college, but it’s not like he has been extremely productive in the NFL. He is more of a hybrid FB/TE type, and there is nothing wrong with that......but I’m just not sure it’s really what we need.
Not that he couldn’t wind up being a very good TE......but we don’t know. So with what it will cost to sign him (probably) I would much rather draft a TE like Fuhmegali for A LOT cheaper and use that money elsewhere. This TE draft class is deep.
Burton is intriguing, but I don’t see why some here are falling all over their selves like he’s a playmate
Either way, I am excited about this offseason getting under way. We are in a MUCH BETTER position this offseason than I can remember. Our most pressing needs are WR, TE, and Edge Rusher. As I said earlier, this TE class is DEEP, there will be options at WR in FA and the draft, the only wild card is probably a rush end. Re-signing Okafor could help.
I wouldn’t mind getting another LB, but with Anzalone and Klein coming back, I think we should be ok there.
