$3k for a dog that dies in 8 years. No thanks.

Cute as can be, very expensive, and a ton of health issues.

Have a 10 yr old white English Bulldog. He has arthritis now, and is very slow in the mornings until he gets moving. With that being said, he has not had a problem at all. I have been told mine has been an exception and they often times have health problems, but I wouldn't hesitate to get to get another one based on him. He's been perfect pet for my family, doesn't need much exercise, a good home protector and super laid back. They shed, just know that

We had one, he died at 5 due to health problems. I wouldn't have another one in the south because it's so hard for them to breath without our suffocating humidity. They have tiny lungs compared to how huge their bodies are. They're nice dogs, and can be hilarious, but I could go the rest of my life without having to hear one eat and hack up God knows what. But, he was hilarious and quirky.
ETA: I don't recommend due to how expensive they are (2-3k) and they really have a lot of health issues. And yes, they shed and are kind of just filthy. They get all kinds of dirt and crap trapped in the folds of their face and then come inside and rub their face into rugs, walls, couches, etc.

Too much Georgia or Moo State-ish.
Get a Jack Russell, it'll out think everything else short of a poodle.

Is 3k really about the average price for one?

I had one that lived to almost 11 years of age. A few minor health problems but nothing major.
Intelligent animal with equal stubbornness.

My husband bought ours before we started dating and he paid around $2500, plus the cost to have him flown here. I was appalled just knowing how many dogs are killed in shelters but to each their own.

If you see one in the pound or stray, go for it.
Don't encourage their breeding, its a pretty stark example of humans playing God... they're not healthy dogs.

Yes they are in that range.

For a purebred, 3k would likely be on the cheap end actually. I had always wanted one and they were 5.5k around me with other breeders willing to ship, and totaling more than 5.5k in all.

I've seen them for $5k. Usually about $1500-3000 is standard, but a lot go higher.
Expensive to give birth and they have small litters.

have one now. about 6 years old. been pretty lucky to have no health issues. Research Olde English Bulldogge instead of just regular English Bulldog. Still get the "cuteness" in the puppy you're looking for, but a lot healthier breed. You also still get the joy of paying out the arse to get one!

$2,500 per pup then about eight years of health problems.
