re: Saints wouldn’t have beat Eagles and Brees would have died

The problem with that is that Brees has maybe 2 more years of elite play, barring injury, left IMO. So without DB were a 5-7 win team if we're lucky. Unless we're fortunate enough to get a good FA QB like Cousins, problem with that is that DB is likely to resign for 2-3 years at 16-20 mil per. If they take that route then we won't be signing a big time FA QB until Brees retires. So that handcuffs the team and really makes it so that we have to hit on every single draft choice and as we've seen before that is very hard to do consistently.

Nobody would have beat the eagles last night

Can’t just plug the Saints in instead of the Vikings and assume the Eagles would have played the same.

You are correct. My OP was careless, I wish we were the team playing last night for sure. We will never know. I got over 70 downvotes for a reason
ETA: I could have done without the Brees would have died comment also. Jack Daniels made me do it

anyways, I wouldn't have put money on the Saints by any means, but I like Brees > Keenum and Saints secondary > Vikes secondary.
I don't see Foles shredding us like he did MN.

The Falcons were one play away from beating the Eagles, I think it would’ve been close
This...
It certainly wouldn't have been a cake walk, but you don't know what would've happened...Saints were a totally different match up...
Vikings totally shite the bed...

This tired old bullshite refrain. It exposes how little you know about football.

Is Nick Foles Carson Wentz? Of course not.
Was the Nick Foles we saw in the NFC Champioship Game just as good, for all practical purposes, as if Wentz were starting? Yes, yes he was.
Given that, and the extreme difficulty of winning on the road twice in two weeks in the playoffs (with the last game outdoors)---especially if you don't have a history of doing so, as the Payton/Brees era Saints have not---and I figure the Saints go down in Philly last night.
Best path to the Super Bowl this season was through the Falcons.

You’re right. I don’t know why they traded him. He’s always been very efficient. Last night he looked like Houdini, the way he avoided being sacked and completing the passes downfield under duress. Very impressive! And now for his reward: A date with the Goat!

Wow! Just looking at the stats alone proves your post is pure idiocracy. Not to mention we beat the panthers, who had arguably one of the best defense in the league, three times in a single season.
For the record, the Saints would have given Philly more of a competitive game than the Vikings purely from a play calling perspective. Just look at the evolution of playcalling in the Saints vs Vikings game.
I am not implying the Saints would have beaten the Eagles. That Eagles front seven would have given us fits with the pass rush.

You're an idiot to blame the play call for that loss. defending the sideline was 10X more important than anything else, getting a guy out of bounds was the only way they realistically win in that situation. We had one of our best defenders in perfect position to win that game, he just happened to make an unspeakably awful mistake that lost the game.
Allen took a defense riddled with guys on IR, cast offs and rookies and made it top 10 in scoring defense, sacks, and takeaways. Whether Schwartz is a better coach is debatable, but Allen deserves a lot of credit for our success this season.

I agree. But do we have the Rob Ryan slump after a defensive turnaround season?
