Fire Gentry or Trade Davis?
Tbh im with the firing Gentry! If any decent coach had this roster we will have 30+ wins guarenteed! What is going on in our Gm's head!!!

Can we get rid of you instead?

I kno its a funny question but it's alot of trade talk with davis, and i feel like the team isnt the problem.. Just bad coaching..

That trade talk is all wishful thinking from outsiders. This may be the oddest post ever. I don’t think there’s a single person that would choose Gentry over AD.

What a retarded question

I can't wait till they fire Gentry and then bring in some other re-thread, like a Van Gundy, just so we can watch this core "under achieve" with someone else. Then we can really start addressing the real problems with this team..

Van gundy, either one actually, got far in their careers.
They actually are decent coaches. Gentry is a retread who is average as hell.
Still want to get rid of Demps over any

Go around and ask league people if Gentry is a good coach. The consensus would be that he is. I didn't want to hire him either, but throwing him under the boat for the team having a bunch of soft prima donnas is chicken shite. Gentry has a solid resume, players like him and he has a ring. If it keeps going like this, he'll be fired. But he hasnt lost control or had any embarrassing situations all year. His handling of Cousins has been downright amazing. The guy just doesn't deserve this much hate..

As an OC, not as a head coach.

So because he had a ring, he's better than someone like Brad Stevens?

I'd say being up 19 and losing is pretty embarrassing, but it was 4 in 5 so it was a scheduled loss. Inexcusable losses and collapses is a pretty shitty coaching job.

right. he's been in the league for decades and worked with some great coaches. players and coaches seem to like him. he's had success as an assistant. the guy knows basketball.
totally fair to knock Gentry as a head coach. just not sure he's got it to be the guy in charge. it's like Norv Turner in football.
the stuff that is a bit much is the assumption that they have done a bad job coaching this year (they've been fine, stuff to question to be sure) and that a new coach will fix things. these are systemic issues we have seen since the days of Monty- weird roster, uneven effort, and low basketball iq

Oh definitely trade Davis. I can't wait until Uncle Al can clean house and build the roster in his image.
You stupid or something?

the problem is that, for many Pels fans, any loss is inexcusable and every win is expected.
if people are starting from the assumption that this is a 50+ win team, they are fooling themselves. new systems on both sides of the ball, integrating a massive talent like Cousins, injuries to key support players to start the year, and roster holes. again, plenty to question w/r/t coaching, but there has been nothing worthy of firing as of yet.
they've figured out a way to maximize Davis+Cousins on offense (which the fan base bitches about constantly) to the point that they are making history, which then causes the fan base to kill the coaches for not doing more with those two players making history together.

Uhhhhhhh this happens a lot in the NBA

Realistically losses are obviously expected, but late game collapses are something that shouldn't be acceptable.
Especially ones where we're up 5+pts with like 2 minutes left or being up a good bit at the half to only lose or up a little and then absolutely get destroyed in the 2nd. I won't include games vs Minnesota/GS obviously but
I mean:
vs Orlando - up 64-60 at the half, lose 99-115
vs Utah - up 55-43 at the half, lose 108-114
vs Sac - up 53-47 at the half, lose 109-116 OT
vs Denver - up 58-46 at the half, lose 111-117 OT
vs Atlanta - up 60-45 at the half, lose 93-94
some of those are absolutely atrocious coaching in the 4th q or super slow 3rd q starts

Yes it happens often, but I remember seeing at tweet we're at something like 7 losses after being up 15+ at a point in a game. Not sure if its accurate, but that seems a bit higher than normal. I mean most of these double digit leads aren't 1st quarter leads, its deep in the 2nd and we let them come back, then absolutely come out flat in the 3rd

I get it, people hate Gentry. But he has been a NBA head coach for 5 different teams and been a great assitant as many times as that. He has a ring in the NBA and a NCAA ring as well. Yeah, as an assistant, but that is still impressive. He has a losing record as a head coach, but most of his jobs were interim and for bad teams. Plus over half the coaches in the NBA have losing records. The guy is solid and was cheap. You don't hire a 60 year old lifer, pay him a bottom 3rd salary and kick his arse to the curb cause he didn't turn chicken shite into chicken salad. Like I said already, he doesn't deserve that..

so some in some of those we can point to questionable coaching decisions. great. what about the others?
all i'm saying is that it is not nearly as simple as fire Gentry, find a good coach (not easy btw), and the Pels are a good team. the coaching has been good enough on a regular basis this year. ignoring the issues that i laid out to just call for Gentry to be fired for having this team over .500 and in line for the playoffs is bizarre.
the problems of poor effort + poor execution have been consistent since the days of Monty. common denominator- no leadership on the court and no vets who have been there before who can still play at a high level.

These players still need to learn what it takes to win. Their effort after the timeout in the 3rd was good. What they need to realize is that if they start out with that effort then the lesser teams will quit. But half arse it out if the locker room and you give them a chance to hit lucky shots like Tyreke’s 3s and they’ll stay close enough to fight you all 48 minutes.
