I'm not arguing he isn't worth that, simply that I highly doubt his market will go over $6 mil without a sack incentive written in (and then if so I think that $6 mil drop closer to $4-5 mil).

Some guys never recover from Achilles, and the ones that do usually aren't close to the same. I'm hoping he can return to at least 80% of what he was last year.

1yr 4mil contract

6 sacks +1mil
8 sacks +1mil
10sacks +2mil

He makes 8mil if he hits 10, that works for both sides

6 is what he would get if healthy.
I'm thinking 3 yrs 14 mil with 7 or 8 guaranteed.
No way I give him 18 coming off an Achilles.
Hopefully we can sign him w years 9 mill with 5 or 6 guaranteed.
Hopefully he liked it here but I don't think he is getting 8 mill or even 6 anywhere

There might be a scenario coming with the Saints be able to bring back Okafor next year could possibly hinge on whether or not they first decide to bring back Vaccaro since it was Vaccaro who lobbied for his fellow former UT alum's behalf and convinced the Saints FO to sign him as a FA in the first place? Obviously, I get that loyalty to a teammate is one thing and ultimately getting paid is another, but for these players, I think its not only about how much money a team offers them, but also if they feel they are getting respect from the organization.

injury concern is there though now

Wasn't that concern always there and why AZ let him leave?

Achilles injuries are different, and there was some stats out there that showed the recovery rate for coming back was worse than stuff like torn ACLs and whatnot. And the ones that did come back more often than not came back noticeably worse.

I think that contract would be fair. The question is, will he accept it? Also, is there another desperate team out there that is willing to throw more money at him.

Love to see this guy back for the Saints next season...there was a big drop off putting pressure on the QB other than Cam Jordan after Okafor got hurt....here’s hoping he returns for 2018....
