I honestly thought racism wasn’t a big problem in this country anymore until I started posting here.

My man, that poli board is en fuego with bigotry. I am no left wing, liberal....rather, a reasonable Republican.

In all seriousness, it’s extremely alarming how many awful people sit on that board spewing their thoughtless drivel. And, Trump didn’t make them racists. They were already there. He just pulled the curtain back.

Not political enough for the Poli board.

I miss the days when this was an average topic for the poli board.

So much irony. I learn so much about you by that statement.

Nice use of the letter ‘S’ by the way...

Maybe in the eyes of the Apartheid government. In the eyes of black South Africans and most of the world, he was a hero.

As an American, you kind of have to appreciate Mandela's efforts.

Save us all the trouble of your insecurities, and keep racism out of the discussion. The guy was a terrorist. I didn’t once bring up race. Typically, those that seek to insert race into literally every discussion would seem like the racist...

I didn't call you a racist, but I anxiously await your second installment in this series, "Why can't people admit that George Washington was a terrorist?"

ETA - in fairness to Washington, I should have used someone like John Hancock and the Sons of Liberty.

I think what he’s trying to say is that the conversation ALWAYS devolves into racism and bigotry labels thrown out by you people. You always insert race to try to devalue something that you don’t agree with instead of counter arguing your case.

You literally just proved his point.

"I Am Prepared to Die," doesn't read like a bloodthirsty maniac. I certainly don't think the attempt by the OP to paint Mandela as though he was a maniacal terrorist is an accurate depiction of what happened. I'm open to other interpretations based on the facts on hand, but you haven't provided any.

I see the Downvotes, but your assertion is that it's ok to kill people if your political outlet is choked out...what did you call it, messy?
I don't know why you are defending the barbarism, or technically downplaying it...

It is what it is...the guy was in charge of thousands of people willing to kill other people.
We exhalt men like Ghengis Khan, Hannibal and Patton for their effective means of eliminating other humans for whatever reason...

I don't understand why people tiptoe away from Mandela's ruthless side?

You can forgive him that, point it out and still exhalt him...

But walking back his willingness to kill is an absolute lie.

The Mandela Effect is an internet meme/conspiracy theory that states that at some point (I assert 9/11 as the moment the timeline changed) the timeline was altered creating a parallel universe. The evidence is minor changes in movies and spellings of books (Bearenstain v. Bearenstein) and Nelson Mandela.

Many people remember news reports in the 1980’s stating he died in prison, his death sparking protests that resulted in the end of Apartheid. However, in this timeline, Mandela survived prison to become the first post-Apartheid president of South Africa.

I didn't bring up race, I was simply replying to a post that did.

However, I do wonder why a post like this is made when someone like John Hancock would be an American equivalent in his day.

To my knowledge, John Hancock didn’t necklace anyone or kill women and children.

Besides, you should call him by his birth name; Herbie Hancock.

The OT has turned into poli board lite.

That's because the Poli Board has been ruined by the Trumpkins. Bigotry and racism are the new norms. It is natural that some political content would spill over onto the OT. That has always happened, but it is happening more and more now that the Poli Board has gone crazy.
