Feedback from this past weekend re: Ja'Marr Chase and Coach Jerry Sullivan

"The promotion of Jerry Sullivan from analyst to passing game coordinator is also having an impact, with Sullivan's deep routed history coaching NFL receivers being an added attraction. It is being viewed by Chase as having two wide receiver coaches, which appeals greatly due to the fact that long-term development may be his top priority."
"LSU walked away from this weekend in a stronger position than before to land Chase, who is still eyeing National Signing Day on Feb. 7 for his official announcement."

Does old man strength carry over to recruiting? Sullivan obviously knows his shite, hopefully he can do some recruiting too

This article clearly doesn't fit the narrative that Sullivan will be worthless on the recruiting trail because he is old. Probably why an article which showed good news for LSU went a half an hour before a reply was made.

This board isn't exclusive to LSU fans, so it is possible that some seemingly odd down votes come from dirtbag lurkers.

I've accidentally downvoted when on my cell phone.
Even if they're intentional, if you don't have haters, you're not doing it right.

As long as he can recruit his position on campus, during in homes and evaluate, that's all he needs to do. That endless road trip stuff isn't necessary for all coaches. Hell most at coordinators do little road trip recruiting. That focus on evaluating, in homes and on campus recruiting. Austin Thomas made his reputation on campus recruiting.

This is misleading..... based off of what I just read it almost sounds like Sullivan might be a good addition and that maybe just maybe O might know what he is doing......

The hater's narative views Sullivan as their 73 year old grandpa that retired from Exxon and doesn't want anyone on his lawn. When the truth is that Sullivan has been coaching young black men 2/3 of his life. He knows what they like and what motivates them; girls, music etc. He may even speak a little "jive". Although he may not travel much, I suspect that he relates to the recruits one-on-one very well.

That's why we still have the previous WRs coach. He was the one who got Chase seriously insterested, brought him in, and now we have Sullivan to do the closing.
Results will do more recruiting for LSU than anything else and I saw results at the start of the year from the WRs. They seem to have regressed over the season and that could have possibly been bc Sullivan wasn't able to continue his teaching. He is a known WR technical coach. Now that we will have him all off season and during the season, I think we will see major improvement. That's my hope anyways.
LSU has plenty of young guys on the staff to recruit. If Steve can do a great job as OC it would do wonders with recruiting north LA as well. That's his area and now you have the LSU OC coming to see you not the TEs coach. He may not recruit as much but I'm sure he will still go see the big players, and positions of need, like big time WRs, OLman, QBs, TEs, and RBs.
If his system is successful, it will only add to his appeal, which from what I hear, is already at a high level. O might have added the right balance of older, technical teachers with new school, communicators or young recruiters. We'll see how it all works. Your staff is more about how it fits the program more than it is the name of the coach. You can have the biggest, baddest names, paying them top money, and still not have success. There are no guarantees out there.
O may as well pick who he thinks will help the TEAM, who jive well with one another, and this LSU roster. It will be pretty darn funny if it all works and he indeed pushed the right buttons for success. We need toughnes on this offense, so I hope Steve sees this and pushes to improve our overall toughness on O. Aranda also needs to demand that our players, especially the DBs, and LBers wrap up. Tackle with their eyes up, face mask in their chest or into the ball.
Football awareness needs to be a key to this offseason as well. It's not a coincidence that Bama always recovers their own fumbles and take advantage of others mistakes. We didn't give up many TOs this year but we didn't create any either. We missed on lots and lots of TOs. Fumbles we just didn't see or INTs we didn't take advantage of. We tip the ball instead or too busy tackling the guy instead of attacking the ball while making a tackle. You can do both. Fix that and score TDs more TDs when in the RZ while adding a great FG kicker and LSU will not lose many games, ever.

I originally posted this on “The Coaching Changes” Board, as I assumed it should be. After an hour or so, and much positive feedback and upvotes, I couldn’t find my post. Wandered over to “The Rant” and there it was. Worked a couple more hours and thought I’d check to see if there was any additional comments and there again it was gone from the Rant!! Went to “The Recruiting Board” and it magically appeared again!!!! Is this normal?????? TIA!

Yes, they really want orgeron to fail. They truly believe in their feeble minds that another coach would have had us in the title game last season lol. They're just ignorant.

Ensminger spent valuable time explaining his plans to revamp the LSU offense, which was to Foster's liking, according to a family source. Ensminger spoke about the three and four wide receiver sets he wants to roll out, along with the idea of running a run-pass-option offense, which caters to Foster's abilities.
