It's shocking how bare the talent is there. They are closer to being a mediocre MAC athletic program than they are to competing in the B10.

Zero reason for them to be in such rough shape in hoops. Those teams under Self then what Weber inherited were so awesome

Missed Illinois and DePaul being good in hoops. All the Chicago power brokers are in bed with the brand names now.

Illinois consistently being a joke is one of the most inexplicable things in sports. Illinois is a huge state and Chicago is a massive city and they don’t have to split their state with two or three other major programs as is the case in most larger states. I could understand if their football program was just ok but it’s completely inexcusable that their basketball program isn’t a perennial powerhouse.

I think Underwood is a really good coach so he should be able to turn them around. But yeah...surprising they are that bad under him right now.
