This moved in VERY, VERY fast. MUCH faster than any model anticipated

What does that mean as far as ice/snow potential? Will we get it faster and clear out faster? Will we not get as much because it will be warmer as it passes through?

I kid though, I'm buddies with my boss. I just wish he would be paying attention to how fast it's coming into the BR area like I am. He still thinks we're good until 4:00pm today.

Although, I'm positive he wishes I worked as hard as I pay attention to the weather so I'll call it even.

Last time we went through this, there was a whole lot of discussion regarding how cold the temps were at different levels of the atmosphere, and how that impacts if you get snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc.

Is that not as much of an issue this time? Is the temp pretty consistent all the way up?

The cold will be there for the most part, except maybe just above the surface at the onset. The limiting factor here is available moisture, the temperature profile is as good as it gets here on a possible snow event.

It means we'll get it faster than anyone expected. Although, moisture is building in to our west in southeast Texas and moving eastward toward southern Louisiana so that leads me to believe that our chances of a prolonged sleet/snow event throughout the afternoon into the evening are pretty high now.

Maybe we'll get up to an inch or so instead of a dusting. One model is now projecting widespread 2" across southern Louisiana though. We'll have to wait and see.

rain and sleet now. Seeing everything freezing to tree branches. Just hope there are no power outages.

If there were snowflakes falling you'd know it. You'd be hearing them scream back at the sky.

This is my concern if moisture hangs around a little longer than expected.

Considering where we were 24 hours ago, I'd say the moisture is already exceeding those expectations.

My brother is a lineman ... I hate these events perhaps more than he does.

Looking at the MWS radar and showing all that moisture over south Texas, looks like we are going to get hit hard. Roads are going to be a nightmare later.

More snow than sleet now in upper West Feliciana. Temp hanging around 29-30. Only accumulation I’m seeing is from the sleet
