Two of my assistants 20 years ago came from Haiti. They worked effectively and hard. I'd hire them again.
The guy was hilarious. Loved hot food. He must have had iron lips. I like a bit of heat in my food, but he was at least three levels hotter. Even the Indian (from the sub-continent) people in the office couldn't tolerate as much heat as he could.

You answered a question that wasn't asked. The question...if you're trying to compare the legal immigrants that came thru Ellis Island with with swarms of whoever can make it across the border--which is the difference I was pointing out-- was about legality. People at Ellis Island were turned back if they didn't meet a stringent criteria.
