Come and see me so I can inject it with steroid. If that doesn't work then you have the nerve surgically removed.

Standing by a Morton’s steakhouse when you can’t afford it is the cause of it, a poor medical resident once told me as he as a sufferer of it being he was still a student.

A bowl a day keeps the doctors away.

I had one looked at a few years ago. I didn't look forward to getting it injected and didn't schedule.

It gradually went away on it's own and this thread reminded me of that fact. Just tough it out, it'll go away on it's own.

Wearing shoes with a wider toe box can help alleviate symptoms and can sometimes cause the inflammation in the nerve to improve. It's not very common to have to do surgery on them. While not a fun shot, they do usually respond very well to the steroid shot.

I have very flat feet. Wear special inserts already. I go a size E on my shoes so I go pretty wide for that reason. Doesn't bother me as much as when I walk barefoot. What city are you in?

I practice in St. Tammany. Treatment is pretty standard for neuromas if you go to a podiatrist or foot and ankle ortho. I will say that I'm not personally a huge fan of the alcohol sclerosing injections (they're a series of 7 weekly shots)

It's pretty classic to have the pain worse with barefoot walking

Okay legitimate response. I would suggest seeing an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in feet and ankles. If you are in Baton Rouge or this area Michael Blanchard with BR ortho is excellent. I saw two podiatrists and liked both of them but my level of confidence when I ultimately chose surgery was with Dr. Blanchard. I tried shoes with a wider toe box, inserts, cortisone shots, and alcohol ablation. Nothing worked. I should have gone to surgery sooner. Mine was very advanced. If I would have treated it sooner I may not have needed surgery. Once I made the choice it was a piece of cake. I was walking/running in 2 weeks. I was playing high impact sports in 6 weeks. I hope this helps.

I have had it a couple times. Just limped around and loaded up on ibuprofen till it went away. Pain is excruciating

Different surgeon, same treatment regimine and surgery...different result. I have been fighting this foot post surgery for 8 months now..I have a large numb area that drives me nuts, but is expected with nerve removal. The big problem is scar tissue in the foot and pain associated with it. Getting ready to go to physical therapy to deal with it. As bad as it is the pain of the neuroma was unbearable, and I was down to one pair of shoes that worked, so I would have to say I would do it again...but it has been a tough post surgical road. It was not a piece of cake for me, and I am pretty tough. Hope that helps.
