I'm no fan of the pending Ensminger hire but your example is kind of shitty.

Brian Daboll was a 3x failed NFL offensive coordinator working as a TE coach in New England when Saban hired him. It's pretty clear he just wanted a guy he could control.

3x NFL OC is not on Ensminger's resume.

It's a legitimate question.

Would Nick Saban hire Steve Ensminger? Of course he wouldn't. He's probably laughing his arse of about it now.

I disagree, Daboll was a system guy who learned under the best HC in the NFL and a pretty damned good OC in McDaniel. Saban is a system guy and seeing as how he had to make the hire in a short time frame bc of the spot both Kiffin and Sark put him in I’d say he did alright. He probably got him for cheap and got away with a small buyout. Btw, does that OC have any plans tonight?!?!

We will have a head coach at LSU no other Power 5 team would hire for that position and an OC no other Power 5 team would hire for that position.

That’s been the case for the last decade as to the head coach.

LSU needs another Mark Emerett. Right now we have absolutely no leadership at LSU. This leadership team has made a circus out of firing and hiring coaches for their top money making program at the University. There are hundreds of 4H programs around the state that have better leadership than LSU has right now.

Two points. SE has been an OC before. SE wants to be at LSU. SE might be a great OC, he did really well with the offensive scheme he was given.

SE isn't all about the money. Had he wanted to be an OC that with high aspirations he would have had to move around the country just like Canada and Kiffen etc. He DOES NOT WANT THAT!

I bet that O wanted to hire him initially but Alleva would have gotten fired had he allowed it to happen.

Now that Canada has screwed things up like he apparently is prone to do, (See his resume), Alleva now turned over the reins entirely to coach O.

So if you are an LSU fan you will hope that O is the best coach in the country. If you are an LSU fan you will hope that SE is the best OC in the country.

If you are an O hater and don't believe this is anywhere close to the case then you should be ecstatic because this will get O fired if it doesn't work out.

But make no mistake. O knows that he is without a doubt putting his neck on the chopping block with SE as the OC. Yet he is doing it anyway. What does he know that we don't? We have a history with Fisher, Kiffen, Briles, Freeze etc. to judge them by. WE don't know this about SE. We don't know what SE's offensive philosophy is. O does. He has worked with him.

So if you don't like SE as OC and that is what happens. At least give it a chance. Don't like it... that is fine not to like it. It makes perfect sense as a fan to not like this relative unknown taken over the OC position. But don't form a lynch mob before he has made any mistakes.

I liked what he did with the les miles offense mid season. I say at least give him a chance and "Hope and Pray" he is the right answer instead of hoping and praying that he is not the right answer.

There are plenty of “failed NFL coordinators” that would be great college coaches. The NFL is a whole different animal. Here’s the main difference though....Saban is as knowledgeable as anyone on his staff. It’s nick fricking Saban. Do you see? Ed Orgeron is NOT QUALIFIED for any coordinator position at this level. He is a bar fighting insecure meathead coonass. This is all comedy
