Nowadays hardly anyone farms rice anymore
Rice has actually made a come back in SE Texas. Once Lake Travis got full, the yuppies quit complaining about the rice farmers taking water from the LCRA and they started farming rice again in the El Campo area. Rice never really left the East side and lots of farmers that could not farm in the El Campo area just shifted to the East side and several ended up staying.
With that, geese have generally started filtering back to the coast.
