1) Was already available last year. Why wasn't he promoted from interim then? If he didn’t want to be OC then, who's to say he'll not grow tired of it in a very short time now.

2) To my knowledge, absolutely no school has courted him for OC. Why would we? He's a good position coach, solid recruiter, valuable asset to the staff, but is simply not OC material.

3) I cannot envision his offenses being successful enough vs Bama for us to win that game each season. They are the pace car. We have to overtake them if we aspire to championships. Do any sober-minded people think otherwise?

4) There are numerous proven candidates available. Steve is NOT the best available.

If you an 8 game stretch of season isn’t how you evaluate a HC or an OC.

For 7 games in 2015 we looked unbeatable.

By the end of the season we wanted everyone fired. O and Ensminger didn’t even have a 7 game stretch where the looked unbeatable.

while I agree that we should not hire Ensminger, I am gonna push back on one point:

You don't know his Offense wont work against Bama cuz you don't know what offense he will run. He said multiple times last year that he was limited given the fact that he had to run the offense that Cam Cameron installed and that he would rather run more of a spread.

again, I would rather hire someone else and think that if O does hire Ensminger that his tenure at LSU should rest completely on the shoulders of that hire.

Iit’s a fricking insane idea to hire a guy who’s never run a spread offense to run a spread offense

He’s never even been on staff somewhere that ran a spread offense.

I've said it a few times, but if Ensminger is the route they want to go they better pray the offense isn't just better next season but MUCH better and I have no idea how they plan on doing that losing our QB, Top 2 RBs, Top 2 WRs and 2-3 Olinemen. Oh, AND the schedule gets much tougher overall (replace Tennessee with Georgia, Florida will be better, Replace Syracuse with MIAMI).

There is going to be no selling "give him a few years" if you go the Steve Ensminger route, it has to be a massive improvement, immediately, or else.

Fair enough. But how much experience does Steve have engineering a spread offense? To my knowledge, ZERO.

I am not disagreeing with you on that point. Just that the idea that Ensminger would run the same offense we ran in 2016 is false.

I would be disappointed if we hired Ensminger and if it failed, I would call for O's head along with it.

Hoping we only lose Weathersby.

You are 100% correct, it would be a bad hire.

If you take the time to find out about the man then you will see that he was both offensive and QB coach at both Georgia and Clemson.

By your take on things probably no one will be able to win here next year

Improving our offense is going to be a VERY difficult task. Fact is we have massive losses, at least, potentially not as terrible on the OL if Clapp comes back, but skill positions getting decimated. We'll have a young QB, unproven WRs, VERY unproven RBs...but potentially solid experienced line pending Clapp, and maybe even Weathersby...but Weathersby is out seemingly half the time anyways if we're being honest with ourselves.

The schedule is absolutely getting tougher too swapping Tennessee for UGA and Syracuse for Miami.

Lining up everything. It's not looking good for any real offensive improvement, but weirder things have happened. Whoever the OC is next season, if we're better than we are this year, they will have earned whatever we're paying them, no doubt.

Yeah, those of us who don't want to get kicked out of the race for passing the pace car.

Those aren’t reasons, they are opinions. Come back when you have something constructive.

At a very basic level the only thing that has been holding this team back from competing for championships has been QB development.

And "you" want to take a guy who has been on staff since 2010 and give him the reigns to the entire offense? When he didn't do anything to help Jefferson, or Jennings, or Harris... If he had shown signs of developing a QB in that time I'd be on board. But there are a ton of better options out there with proven credentials in that arena.
