They had an adventure of misadventures. That's pretty much star wars.
quote:Again, What Star Wars have you been watching?
It was succinct and had some fun laughs
This isn’t the MCU.
Star Wars has never been about the laughs.

if there are 2 things TLJ was not, it's succinct and funny

Sadly I don't think Disney really cares. I just know that I won't being seeing episode 9.

But it was intellectual. Maybe the most intellectual Star Wars movie since Jar Jar Binks saves Naboo with his force powers.

i'm actually about to make a long post in the main thread about the "intellectual" argument as well as why Rey sucks now

What exactly does it shite on?
I know Hamil is upset, but Luke makes his case in the movie well.
He lived under his father and the emperor's regime. He fought against it and won when he was younger and naive. He sees his nephew going down the same way. The quick option was considered and made him ashamed. If you could stop the horror from starting just like that wouldn't you consider it?
There's shades, he was wrong and right.
He got to say his good byes and go out on his own terms.
Reignited the rebellion. And made Ben look beatable to his underlings. Plus he'll force ghost around in 9.

The constant breakdown of the Falcon, C-3PO and R2-D2 shenanigans, chewie shenanigans, Han shenanigans, Yoda shenanigans, Leia bitchouts, and Ewan McGregor making the best of a bad situation kinda prove laughs always had a big place in star wars.

His character would never have considered that.
And then, his character wouldn’t have just left all of his friends and family to die.

He got to say his good byes and go out on his own terms.
quote:Why is there still a rebellion after the rebels won 30 years ago?
Reignited the rebellion

Star Wars has always had funny moments. Problem with TLJ is that all the jokes either overstayed their welcome or were just plain unfunny.

This movie, which was reported as dark and filled with tension, never allowed itself to be dark or tense.
Hell, I’m surprised that someone didn’t rip a fart during Holdo’s speech just to fit a joke in there.

Luke
the Force itself
Han (Finn and Poe are basically parts of Han and the ethos of Han was shite on by the pro-feminine message)
they turn Leia into a caricature
basically anything left from the OT was shite on by TLJ in some way b/c RJ wants to destroy the OT (which could have worked if this was episode 7, but JJ already celebrated the OT by basically remaking ANH, so the narrative is completely disjointed with a ton of plot holes and loose ends)

the funny moments of Star Wars were basically restrained to specific characters and apart from dramatic scenes
you had Han, C3PO, and R2D2 basically as the comic element and at worst that emerged in tense scenes (but not dramatic ones)

He got what little remained time to get out. Made a fool of the new leader of the first order. And gave himself to the living force where Yoda just showed the power to interact with the physical plane. It's full on space wizard.
I'll take resisting dealing with your nephew in an easy way over becoming Palpatine's apprentice to attempt a clone and energy being assassination (Dark Empire for you none EU folks) as a way to go forward. Both ways have their faults as TLJ backlash is up there and Luke was all fine since you asked a third time, I guess I'll join the dark side.

Rian Johnson shite on The Force Awakens.
Anyone who liked ANY previous Star Wars movie or its lore should be pissed.

from a narrative perspective, you don't understand how stupid and terrible this idea is? especially in light of SW lore

None of the old EU is canon.

He’s trolling. Yoda doing force lightning was stupid for several reasons:
1. It’s a dark side power so Yoda must be in Force hell or a former Sith Lord
2. It was done so the movie could be shown in China because they abhor ghosts and it’s extremely offensive to them. Basically to make money.
3. The obvious plot issues that arise from past movies, this movie, and ANY FRICKING STAR WARS STORY THAT WILL EVER BE TOLD. Gotta a problem - INSTANT FORCE SOLUTION FROM THE NETHERWORLD.
Story tension in the Star Wars universe forever died with that scene.

he has to be
he used 2 words to describe it that literally require the opposite to be true and is now defending one of the more contentious parts of the film. next he's going to tell us how dramatic and poetic Leia was when she flew back into the shipt

it's funny how space battle tactics and more earthly, even force-based conflicts are now very easily resolved after TLJ

There is no good or bad ever. There is no objective morality. The Jedi and the Sith are the exact same.
