I saw a video recently where Orgeron said they could have signed more quality players that wanted to commit, but now because of this hard cap BS they have to sign the players they really need.
They had pretty desperate needs up front this year. The staff will probably relax a little on that with better depth going forward. They will be able to take chances on guys who are worth it.

I think he's got some dead weight on the staff, hired specifically for their supposed ability to recruit the greater New Orleans area. Said Coach is not getting it done, currently ranked as the #82 recruiter in the SEC with 1 commit thus far and his big fish likely to sign with TCU. Furthermore, his ability to Coach is also questionable! Maybe O should have kept Bradley Dale Peveto, at least he could recruit.

Im sure that the brass down in Austin are happy with that #3 class right off the bat with their new coach.
They most likely arent looking to trade classes with LSU either.

You people are morons, Ohio State is a darling school, and has been a nationally recognized school for years, all it needed was a winning coach and they have that now.
GA is full of highly rated guys, it's also by FL, and now Kitby is winning, you can't compare our class with theirs this year. If LSU can start winning our recruiting in TX, MS, FL, AL, and GA will pick up, and if you add a good year in LA on top of a winning season then you could compare classes.
You people are unrealistic in your expectations. You can't expect to just pull the best kids from other areas without some ammo. We don't have a QB ready yet, don't have the depth on the lines, or depth at WR. We are building that. Once it's built our fortunes should turn. Once it turns, recruiting will pick up. IMO we're about where Clemson was when Dabo took over. Now we have to build those key spots up again. LB, OL, DL, QB, and WR. Once we build depth in these areas, with high caliber kids, our fortune's will change.
We need to start showing kids that LSU is a ball slinging school when it has the talent to do that. LA is loaded with RBs, so we will get our RBs. I think O is moving us in the right direction. It doesn't happen over night but it looks like 2019 and 2020 will be great years for LSU to move into a championship level again. Close 2018 strong and move onto 2019 to load up.
LSU will be fine, maybe not on everyones timeline but we'll be fine. GT

could have top 5 class every year if you want 20 receivers and 10 running backs. He recruited for need . Not sure why do not see that. Big uglies don't get you brownie points.
Don't give me this garbage.
Georgia's class is #1 and they have two top 20 OL.

Being as good as UGA is an unrealistic expectation? If thats how you feel, then YOU are the problem

Everybody just sees what they want to see. While I also disagree with EXPLAYER, I find your question equally disingenuous.
The state of Georgia was absolutely stacked this year. 14 of Georgia's 20 signees are either from Georgia or from within a few hours drive from Athens.
Our biggest recruiting states are Louisiana and Texas and unfortunately the top talent in those states this year is perimeter and skill position guys.
It's simply a year where we had a huge need for big guys and the area we recruit the best did not have super highly rated big fellas. I think, given the circumstances, Orgeron took a good approach this year. Identify the best guys available and take a bunch of them with the thought that a few might end up elite, a few might end up good solid contributors and a few won't make it.

This is true. The OT we signed from East Ascension is a project too, so it was a tough year in LA, especially along the line of scrimmage.

I bet they would trade for a few O Linemen. They are in really bad shape there, high ranking or not.

And vice versa, LSu would love to have several of their studs as well. What does this have to do with the topic?
2 totally different conferences and team philosophies. Trying to beat Oklahoma is different than trying to beat the gumps.
They keep score during recruiting and Texas is ahead by a substantial margin.
Its really that simple isnt it?

We are in much better shape than Texas as far as recruiting. Texas signed a bunch of DB's which made their ranking high. I would not trade what Texas just signed with LSU's current roster. Texas did not sign one QB or RB as well. We filled our needs period. Only thing lacking, as usual, is a hot shot QB.
Wow you are so wrong.
2 four star QBs already signed.
3 4 star OT's and a 3 star OT already signed.
Top 150 4 star RB with a hard commit.
They play in the Big 12 where good cover guys are way more important than good interior DL's.
Their recruiting class is ranked 3rd in the freaking nation. Let that compute.
Then put your LSU hat back on and tell us how in the hell LSU's 4th in the SEC class is superior.
Theyre trying to beat Oklahoma not Alabama.
