Like Si stated earlier what wrong with linemen we signed. Lots of those great stars for you star lovers. We also have a transfer Dlineman coming in. Some just want to hate on this staff, it's so sad. Well I think we did great.FWIW! I know so what.

Well, their toy is more shiny...lol..their house is bigger...like saying I got a 10" dick, but I'm nothing compared to my buddy with a 11" dick.

the ridiculous personal ad-hominem attacks show your insecurity and inability to craft a well-reasoned argument.

Just the way it is. Bunch of kids know it all, hated the O hire, have been vocal about it, and would rather be right than Lsu do well. Most won't admit it. These guys that bash O 24/7 are nothing but losers in life.

In the past

We just signed 5 4 star linemen. 7 if you include DE. We still get “our share”
Those numbers don’t include 4 3 star linemen who were all top 50 at their respective positions.

I take comfort in knowing that there was a strategy and it was followed. We addressed our needs and I'm pleased. The OL coach situation also was managed well (by all involved).

Well reasoned. Lsu has a chance to finish ranked in the top 10 in the nation, and is on the verge of signing perhaps one of the best classes in it's history, in terms of building a complete team. This class may also very well finish in top 10. We just signed a hell of an OL coach, and there is tons of positive energy in the Lsu football program right now. It is obvious to anyone being objective. Yet, you are on here bashing and bitching. Answer a question, would you prefer the class of Texas over lsu's? They are ranked #3.

No I'm not.

I've never mentioned Texas. At all. Their class is all DBs and WRs.

What I was referring specifically to in this thread is the assertion that you can't have a top class if you recruit "need" for OL/DL.
OSU, UGA, Bama, and PSU are all in the top 5 and have several of each.
UGA has 7 four star or better
OSU has 5
PSU has 4
Bama has 8

ETA: we signed 5. 6 if you count Rosenthal as an OT, where he would be ranked as a high four star instead of a 3 star DT.

Some group of 5 schools will benefit from the hard cap as there will be some quality players still available after the P5 take their picks. Just some thoughts for discussion.

yes, w/o question there will be a lot of top players left (which there always are) but there probably will be less spots for them so the schools that signed less players in the early period just very well may benefit from their poor start in the end. the aggies and bama are 2 examples. that's weird. I think it will take a couple of years learning curve to master this thing. there will always be some unknowns. for example if you intentionally sign less guys and wait for the "bountiful end game" you could be left holding the bag and have to settle for a lot of lower players.

I think I want to see how this change ends up this year before I decide if it's a good thing or how we should play it. for example, Saban signed all 4 or 5 stars in the early period (could have added after I looked) but didn't sign that many. does that leave more top guys left or less? I just don't know.

right now, I think it's best for coaches not to "play games" until trends develop. in other words, if you have a player evaluated as one that will help your team, sign him but leave 5 or so spots open for the end game (which is what I think O did this year).

Seriously...wgaf? You are literally taking the top recruits and using the rankings to determine how good they will be. It would be one thing if we were getting 2 and 3 star linemen compared to their 4 and 5 star guys...then I'd agree with you. But we have a shite ton of quality 4 star linemen on both sides of the ball. You have no clue if they will be better or worse than other similar ranked line recruits. I trust O and aranda on the DL. We just signed the #1 juco OL and had 2 fresh perform very well this year. Get over yourself and comparing dick size

I completely disagree. miles competed effectively and even won the west w/o having a top 5 class every year. in fact, I think it wrong to put a hard number on what the class ranking should be because that could lead to overloading at some positions just to achieve this "mythical" recruiting trophy. if you are getting 15 or so top recruits a year you should be competing for the west as long as you have balance in the positions you recruited. you can't win with poor showings on DL and amazing amounts of 5 star DB's.

make no mistake, you could be ranked #5 with no OL or DL recruits. look at texas right now; #3 with 3 OL and 1DL recruits and they need them desperately.

I'm reserving my verdict until NSD. Right now, although I'm very happy with the fact that he's stocked up on a lot of big lineman, I'm still a little bit underwhelmed. If they close like they are expected to in January, I'll be very happy with this class, and then be anxiously looking forward to 2019.

La was "down" this yr if you're a star gazer. We absolutely filled our needs and that's what's important. We were desperately in need of beef on the lines and we got it. We haven't had the depth. We're building back up. It's as important as qb play.

You’re a special kid amirite?

Louisiana has a down year in terms of high school talent. A majority of our talent comes from within state. You aren’t going to have a top 5 class when the talent in state doesn’t get the stars.

Anyone with a 1/4th of a brain would know this.

You guys gotta quit lookin at stars. We were shallow in the trenches and addressed it. It was our biggest need. We scooped the #1 receiver and should close the #1 DB.

O did fine.

No, less successful than expected and anyone saying otherwise is just a pumper. What did you expect if you are saying he exceeded expectations on the recruiting trail?

Most expected him to improve the rankings from the previous HC. One can argue that he he fulfilled needs and the players he chose will end up being higher rated than the rankings. But thats just being a pumper. The rankings are what they are, it is what it is. 247 is the one to use as the best guide imo.

Him getting Traore and Marshall have saved the day and allows a neutral score if can finish out with 3 of the top 4 remaining on their board. Which will be a dog fight. This could get interesting. And Coach O could poach a big time player away from somewhere else thats not on the radar as well.

Im fine with him signing a big time kicker even with the numbers so tight.

Not having a QB committed and signed by now is hard to understand, but it aint over just yet. Losing Rogers to TCU is a tough pill to swallow.
