I have a spouse and kids and a dog. I like the kids and spouse.

I pray daily that the little house dog dies. He knows I hate him, and he hates me back. I bet he is praying I die as well.

Agreed.

Had this happen one year. Big dog too.

One of my kids had a reaction, and the damn thing knocked over several dinner plates, pissed on presents, and took up a large part of one of the few sitting areas.

Didn't even ask. Terribly rude and pissed me off.

Not to mention the random loud barking in the packed house.

frick that!

the belief that it is ok for dogs to be brought anywhere the owner goes is on petsmart or other similar big box retailers...

no, it is not ok to bring your fricking dog to the grocery store, pharmacy, mall, or my house...

its an animal, an arse licking, butt dragging across your carpet animal...

frick that!!!

ETA: i own 2 dogs, love 'em, but they stay outside...

It’s not like I throw a fit

And 9/10 of my friends have dogs and explicitly ask us to bring our dog.

Obviously we don’t bring him to nice things where people wear nice clothes, but Sunday grill outs or football watching parties, definitely.

what would you do if you were told that the dog MUST come along to your home because they are a member of the family. And the dog will sit at the thanksgiving table get a full leg of the turkey,if not sit in a chair be allowed to put his mouth up on the table and beg during the entire meal, can only drink bottled water, has a special dog dish so his neck does not have to bend when he is drinking water

Agreed OP. Dog people are frickin weird. They are animals, not humans. It's weird to bring them with you wherever you go. It's weird to sleep with them. It's weird to want to have them around in general, they're animals.

It's weirder to concern yourself with how other people treat their pets. You don't like dogs, that's fine. My wife and I have a golden retriever and it's our best friend, she's part of our family. We never bring her anywhere unannounced and we only ask to bring her to friends/family houses with owners who love dogs/have bigger dogs. She sleeps in our bed most nights though, and we take her as many places as we reasonably can. Wouldn't have it any other way.

people acting like their dog has to be inside is fricking weird, especially during family dinners and events like Christmas. its a fricking dog, it will be OK outside for one night i promise, it isnt gonna develop emotional trauma.

it's cool that you like dogs, but i promise people that dont keep dogs indoors can fricking smell them, and there will be hair shed. not to mention like someone else said, them taking up space if they are a large breed, or running around the room and generally causing havoc if they are a smaller breed. people dont want your dog touching them while they are gathering to eat a meal, its gross, i dont care how clean it is

Been trying to figure out a way to tell them the dogs are not welcome this year without missing them off.

Many "dog people" are very inconsiderate...(they never hear their precious pets annoying barking, etc.), so just come out and tell them you'd prefer it if the dogs were left at home. If they have a problem with that, your friendship is not as important to them as their mutt's following them every damn place!

I don’t associate with deranged people, they certainly aren’t invited to my house.

No one is bringing an animal in my house. I like animals but God put fur on ‘em for a reason. They belong outside and that’s where they will remain at my house. End of story.

I hate peoples dogs, and the obsession people have with dogs. They're just pets, not people. I have a dog....but I leave it at home when i leave and don't miss it one bit.
