Now, out of nowhere, rumors of a potential return of the XFL have surfaced, with Brad Shepard reporting that McMahon is “looking to bring back the XFL and may announce it on January 25th, 2018.”

The WWE, when asked to confirm or deny a potential XFL reboot by David Bixenspan of Deadspin.com, said this: “Vince McMahon has established and is personally funding a separate entity from WWE, Alpha Entertainment, to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has nothing further to announce at this time.”

That’s far from a denial, and it feels like an implicit confirmation.

I think this is the perfect time to bring it back. Bring in a pile of X NFL players and change only a few of the rules. Also make everyone stand for the Anthem and keep the BS to a minimum.

NBC and the WWF both lost $35 million on their $100 million investment in the league's inaugural season.

They won't be able to find a good enough network to partner with to make it worthwhile.

Another Bob Costas / Vince McMahon interview would be fun to see.

Could they go after the 18-21 year old guys who aren't eligible to be drafted yet but only go to school because they have to? Offer a blue chipper a 3 year, $100k a year guaranteed contract or something along those lines.

Imagine if WWE would have bought ufc when they had the chance.

If you haven't already, listen to the podcast Something to wrestle with Bruce prichard talked about everything the 30 for 30 xfl didn't. It was doomed from the start.

Things that would make the xfl successful

1. Fewer flags
2. No illegal contact or “before the pass, holding”
3. No pink apparels for any month
4. Fewer commercials
5. More honest announcing during games
6. Shorter halftime
7. Cheaper concessions
8. Online streaming
9. Gambling lines
10. Fantasy relevant

If fantasy football didn’t exist and XFL came back, I think it’d have a real shot. FF is the only thing keeping NFL afloat, at least from my interest and perspective
