Best Anti-War Song

My vote is "Sam Stone" by John Prine. It shows the human consequences of war, primarily drug addiction and the effect it has on the families of veterans. Every time we invade a country or talk about escalating hostilities, I think of how many Sam Stone's our government is creating.

Masters Of War.
Bob Dylan songs, but listen to Eddie Vedder sing it. Preferably at the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary show in the early 90's.

Is Ping Pong by Stereolab an anti-war song?

I'd say Masters of War as well. Some of Dylan's most biting lyrics ever.

It's War Pigs (Sabbath) or Fortunate Son (CCR).
Other candidates are: It's a Mistake (Men at Work), 99 Luftballoons (Nena) and Gods of War (Def Leppard).
ETA: Plus, One (Metallica)

I was going to throw something else out there...but Sam Stone is truly an amazing song, and has always been one of my favorites. John Prine at his best. Some of the lines from it paint such an incredibly tragic picture of the veteran's life after war.
ETA: as a kid, I would have to listen to my parents play their Statler Brothers 8-track on trips. Silver Medals and Sweet Memories is a tear-jerker that focuses on the family left behind.
I will also say that Traveling Soldier is a great one, too. Bruce Robison is another undervalued songwriter, and he paints an amazing picture. Regardless of how one might feel about them, The Dixie Chicks did a really good job with that song.

I'm throwing this in because Marvin Gaye could somehow make a sociopolitical song sexy.
