1. Fournette – We did not win anything with the best RB duo in LSU history. I will never live this down. The 2016 Ole Miss game demonstrated how phenomenal a talent Fournette was on a bum ankle at that. His combination of speed and power is X-men level, when your game is analyzed on sports science there can be no further argument.
2. Guice -
3. Cecil
4. Faulk
5. J. Hill

Are we history challenged? Charles Alexander? Jim Taylor?

Billy Canon was bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone on your lust except Fournette. He is definitely top 5 - probably #2.

Meh - Cannon was probably bigger than Faulk and Hilliard - but those short cats were thick when playing. As far as strength? I think Faulk may have been the strongest, yet lightest of that group. Hilliard wasn't a huge back, but was also very strong.

Cannon's problem was football. If he had been 10 pounds lighter, he would have likely have made the Olympic team in the 100. If he had been 10 pounds heavier, he likely would have made the Olympic team in the shot put. Frankly, at his football size, he should have been a decathlete - but that's way too much work.

Plus, he was a natural at football. But 6' and change, 200 to 205 lbs just isn't that big by modern standards.

If we just need one game, and for the guys to play their guts out, I would use these 5 guys. Fournette is 5th based off his performances against Bama. So if that one game we played Bama, LF7 would be on kick returns only.

1. Hilliard
2. Collins
3. Faulk
4. Hester
5. Fournette

if cannon would've been on a modern day s&c program he woulda been a bit bigger and probably faster (which is insane) if he didn't get too big.

cannon is an easy number 2 behind lf7 with faulk being the 3rd down back over everyone.

fournette
cannon
faulk

Honestly, in any game where I absolutely had to have that yard/yard and a half? I go to Jacob Hester, circa 2007 and say, "War Daddy? We HAVE to have it. Do whatever you have to do. Good luck."

Cecil Collins is probably THE best running back I have ever witnessed from the pure giftedness standpoint.

Fournette is more gifted.

Fournette had a stretch of games just as ridiculous as Collins, by Cecil didn't play full seasons or against a Saban led Alabama.

anyone that mentions CC meet me at Sonic. most overhyped 4 games in history.yay he ran good against 3 scrubs and auburn Watching his legend grow on the rant has been amazing. 4 games. that's it. he never replicated that production ever again. it's like jerry seinfeld and "the big race". Guice highlight runs vs. Collins highlight runs are NO contest in favor of Guice. Same with Fournette. If collins wasn't a pervert and in his 100% prime he still would not make top 5. And the "broken leg" excuse it's not like he ripped up ligaments in his knee. he broke a lower leg bone. people come back from that all the time with no drop off in production; he could barely get it done at McNeese and averaged like 3 YPC in the NFL. Over. Rated.

Garland was a beast. He was not given the opportunity he deserved and was misused by Arnsparger. Another other-worldly talent wasted by the man.

He was slow and didn’t have vision. He packed on weight in school.
Dalton and Garry James were the best dynamic duo of that decade. Harvey and Sammy Martin were damn good together as well.
Dalton had better vision and was hard as hell to bring down, just as Ronnie Lott about him. Garry James had elite speed and would out run people to the corner.
They were our “Pony express” or Dalton and James Gang.

There are alot to pick from, and you can kinda tell peoples age by their picks. Everyone mentioned fits, they where all good at one point in time. Whether Collins in those 4 or 5 games, or Fournett against pretty much everyone except Bama. But if you want someone that put out 110% every time he touch the ball, give me Dalton Hilliard, with Jacob Hester right behind him. Fill out the next 3 any way you want.
