They all say the south is horribly racist. But I ask you, the last 5 major racial conflicts have occurred where? Not the Deep South.

We're pretty cool with each other down here.

Every yankee says they have black friends, but how many of those "friends" have ever been to their houses for supper. My friends come over all the time, cause this cracker can fry up some chicken livers and cook the hell out of some neckbone.

The south is the most racially progressive part of the US. We treat each other as people, not those people.

What are we counting here?

I'm not disagreeing with your premise, just wondering.

black folks come to my home all of the time to get stuff out of my garden that i GIVE away to folks in the community....we got great blacks here where i live with absolutely zero racial issues....our mayor is a black woman who i have known all my life, we all know each other and if al sharpton tried to come in and start shite, he would be in for a major surprise how he would be greeted in the black community

I'd say NJ and Boston people who move to Florida make up most of the racist people I know.

Current Southerners grew up around way more black people then the rest of the country outside of Detroit.

Parts of the Northwest or Southwest have had little interaction with black people.

Most racist encounter I have ever had was actually in Italy. They give two shits about political correctness over there.

The only reason the south is racist against blacks is because most of them live here.

Accept it or not, we weren't born racist, we learned it by experience!

Most southern whites have more in common with rural blacks than urban whites. I sure as hell do.

The South is the least racist part of the country because the white people in the South actually see real black people in their day to day lives and view them as actual human beings, the good and the bad.

Many parts of the rest of the country view black people as imaginary political pawns.

In my experience the most racist people I've met have been from other parts of the US. Especially the north-east. The South has its reputation because of obvious reasons, but I've seen and heard some real racist shite that I used to only hear from old folks coming out of New Yorkers my age.

It's not even close really. You have people from areas that are like 2% black looking down their noses at the South.

Hell in the 2% black they do have not a single one of them are from the projects.

Really easy to have big talk about how awesome you are with black people when you basically have no interactions with black people

A white person in most of those places can go days if not weeks without even crossing a black person's path much less having to deal with them on a day-to-day basis

So woohoo you managed to not have any racial incidents when the race is never come into contact with each other. Color Me shocked.

I said it before and I'll say it again. You can be the most racist fricker on the planet but if there aren't any blacks around you're probably not going to have any troubles.

The South doesn't have more racial difficulties because of racism. The South has more publicize racial difficulties because there are more opportunities for racial difficulties

What I do know as truth occurred while I was at Parris Island MCRD back in the late sixties. We had several recruits in my platoon that were blacks who had been drafted. We also had whites who were from the Northeast and Great Lakes area as well. I had never seen the animosity and hatred toward blacks from my fellow Southerners that I observed coming from these Northern boys. However, by the time we were deployed to Nam, most of that prejudice had disappeared when they realized that we all bled the same.
