I-12 from Slidell to Baton Rouge should have been 8 to 10 lanes by now and I-10 from New Orleans to Baton Rouge should be 10 lanes. There is no excuse for this and it’s one of the reasons that Houston and Tampa have kicked our arse in shipping.

Baffles me that I-10 and I-12 are not at least 6 lanes in that area.

...or that the alternative routes (Airline and Florida) are not at least 6 lanes.

The most important thing to be done is a branch off of I-10 with a bridge that crosses the River south of BR. This could be mostly paid for with tolls. So much traffic is just passing through and with the gas and time savings it would be worth forking over a few bucks to not have to pass through the city itself.

This should be priority 1 for the state as it would make the area much more competitive and create construction jobs without requiring a huge amount of tax money.

On top of that, they should reconfigure the interchange at I-12/ I-55 at Hammond. You have the interstate going down to one lane into a sharp cloverleaf.....a lot of accidents and overturned 18 wheelers. Did anybody actually pay attention or rather THINK when they were creating this interchange at the nexus of a major North/South - East/West coast to coast highway?

Wait, it's Louisiana, the answer is either no or a politician said " ....ehhhhh.... it's good enough."
