My buddy and I think yes. Who agrees? Disagrees?
If the former, why was this season so weak? Has Trey lost it?

No. Last season was.

I think this season was demonstrably worse. I wouldn't even rank a single episode this season as "above average" on the south park scale.

PC Principal and Vice Principal Strong woman with Hootie and the Blowfish made this season worth it.

Maybe I'm in the minority but Sons of Witches was pretty great.
Maybe because it featured the two best SP characters ever...Randy and Cartman.
I mean every guy can relate to Randy's wife nagging him and Cartman being exasperated over the Pumpkin Patch.

They can't seem to get away from Trump and the season long continuity has also started to not work.
The finale was one of the worst episodes of the entire series.

After they take out the witch and waiting for Cartman’s girlfriend to come out of the bag...
Just a minute... be right out...

Last season was the end of the serialization experiment. This season had only loose continuity, so I don't think the "they can't do continuity" explanation applies to this season.
I wish there were a clear explanation.

South Park lost me after last season - and I’ll admit, memberberries was funny as hell. My biggest beef is that they went to where you and to watch episode by episode like it was a soap opera. I’ll eventually watch the new season and it’ll prob be funny as hell but haven’t had the time to keep up.

Agreed. Last season was absolutely terrible.
This season had female Cartman, a Nathan and Mimsy episode, a female Mackey, a classic Cartman vs Kyle episode, the Canadians, etc..
It had some terrible episodes and the finale was God awful and just kind of confusing, but I'd put the episode Heidi turns into Cartman and the science fair up there as classic episodes.

I was howling at the Halloween episode this year as well

I think they sort of ram out of steam ten years ago, but the money is too good.
Southpark money funds their personal endeavors.

Last season was terrible, by far the worst.
I respect that they changed things up from the formulaic stand alone eposides like they did in the past and like simpsons/family guy but it doesnt work that well. People dont want to watch a serial, they want each episode to be its own thing.
I think they should either get some new writers or quit because they just dont have it like they used to.

It's been going down for a few years now.

I thought the finale was weak, but absolutely loved how disgusted everyone was at the idea of two coworkers being in a relationship
it was such a great way to call out the absurdity of some people saying any interoffice relationship is inappropriate and borderline harassment

It's bottom third. The last 2-3 seasons all mix together to me now

The Hummels episode was the only one that my gf and laughed at. But having to choose between the past two seasons is ironically like having to choose between a douche and turd sandwich
