Don't drink and drive people!

Maybe you don't value your own life. Whatever. Maybe you don't value other people's lives. You may be a psychopath, but whatever.

There's worse than killing yourself, or someone else, in my opinion.

My sister had her head crushed in a wreck with a drunk driver. She was 3 weeks old. The drunk didn't take her life, but that would have been a blessing. She has lived an utter nightmare of an existance for more than 50 years. I won't even try to describe it, but you wouldn't wish it on the devil himself.

Can you imagine being responsible for such a thing? If you read all of this, thank you. If you read all of this and can still drink and drive, kill yourself. You don't deserve to be in society.

First time, don't blow. Most likely will get off it.

Won't be as lenient next go around. You don't blow, lose ur license and still possibly convicted.

And just a heads up, cop can still arrest you if you blow under .08.

Don't do anything at all. Hand them your driver's license and say lawyer. Don't say more than one word. More than one word is a speech, as in slurred speech.

Dont walk, don't talk, don't blow.

You will go to jail for the night, you will get your dwi dropped, you are entitled to a driver's license hearing within 30 days and you will get your license back.

There is some bad information in this thread. You have a right to remain silent. Let me say that again, you have a right to remain silent.

If you don't talk, don't do a field sobriety test, and don't blow then there is no evidence. No evidence equals no conviction. Why would you give someone evidence when you don't have to.

So what can the report say? You were driving erratic, you smelled like alcohol and your eyes were glassy.

Well, I was tired, someone spilled a beer on me, and I was in a smoky bar. That doesn't mean that I was drinking and or intoxicated. Again, no evidence equals no conviction.

Excercise your right to remain silent.

Maybe down there, but here in Virginia violating the implied consent law is a separate charge. It carries a civil penalty of $500.00 plus suspension of a license for a year. Subsequent refusals may carry criminal penalties. But these penalties are separate from the DWI charge.

You automatically lose your license for a year if you refuse, but you lose it anyway for being convicted of either DUI or DWI. Hence, you have nothing to lose for NOT blowing, even with the increased fine.

Further, if you are .15 (.2 in DC) there's a mandatory jail sentence involved.

Basically, because one lives in VA / DC, it just means that an arrest costs 500 more than say Louisiana

It's called implied consent and under Louisianian law if you refuse to take the test your DL is gone for 1 year first offense. Doesn't even matter if you are legally intoxicated or not, if you refuse you lose.

Got my first ticket in 8+ years last week from a LA state trooper. Last one a while back was a trooper too. Neither time did they ask me to leave the vehicle.

There's an appeals process. File it and you likely win.

Depends. Is the cop cute and do you think he's into you?

Nope to either situation

And ppl would be surprised how little you have to drink to blow over, especially if it's in a short amount of time

Louisiana has such lax and non give a shite laws regarding DUIs so blow if you want

This is simply not true. When compared to other states, LA actually has pretty stiff penalties. No, not as bad as New York or Arizona, but definitely not weak laws. Sure, people find loopholes and stuff but that’s the case anywhere. Courts suspend sentences in all states because the prisons are so full of drug offenders and violent crime offenders. But the way the laws are written, the jail time is pretty severe in LA.

Don’t drive when you’ve been drinking and you don’t have to make a decision. Use Uber.

Don’t be surprised if you a lot of LEO’s across the county start having people get out of the car and sit in the car with the LEO.

There is literally no excuse to drink and drive today with the availability of uber and Lyft. If you don't have those options then call a cab and if you don't have that option then just don't drink. Very very simple.

The issue is that now, almost all real departments will simply draw blood with a warrant. So you've lost your license for a year, and they have the evidence they need.

I guess best case for a drunk is hoping he sobers up in the 30-90 mins it'll take for the blood draw to occur.

Would refusing to blow have any affect on a CCW permit? LA law states anything above a 0.05 will get your permit revoked only if your carrying but just curious what would happen if you don't blow.

Both lead to OT-Trashy outcomes, right? I think that's right.
