From your experiences, which hubs do you prefer and why? Somebody sell me on a hub for a house.

If you don't want to DIY (highly recommend home assistant if your a techie), Samsung smart things is GOAT right now.

Read the wink thread CAD is in. Dude has pretty much turned his whole house smart.

Pretty sure he's flipping bulbs he finds on sale for a side hustle too.

Best Buy has the samsung hub for 49 bucks. I basically have points to make it free and was wondering between them or wink.

I already have a raspberry pi so I will look into it.

Can I do most of this stuff anyway if I own an Amazon Echo? Why would I want to add a smartthings hub?

I’m pretty new to the HA game and got a Smartthings Hub, and use it with Alexa.

Most non WiFi devices require a hub if I’m not mistaken.

I’ve been happy with the SmartThings hub so far.

I'm fairly new to all this as well, but the nice part about having a hub is having one app that can control all things in one place, schedule items, and do things when you aren't home.

I have a wink hub 2. I only have a few things on it (thermostats, light switch, outlet, etc). Currently my soffit lights come on at sunset and go off around 2am. I don't have to remember to turn them on/off. My christmas tree it on a schedule so anyone passing by might think I'm home when I'm not.

I plan on expanding it to more lights, deadbolts, garage door, additional lights, etc.

went on and bought the hub and bought all the multisensors they had in stock (wasnt many but for 20 bucks i figure i couldnt go wrong)

stayed away from the single sensors.

No use buying an ac controller right now since the house is 6 months away but im looking on what I should purchase next for it. Fire away.

Every time you go to the store (walmart, best buy, home depot) check clearance section. If they have smart bulbs for more than half off buy a couple. You won't regret it.

I have both the Wink hub and SmartThings and personally prefer the SmartThings.

It is just more reliable to pair new devices. Having to put your hub in exclusion mode to get things to pair is a PIA when there is another product that does it better.

Any particular wattage or dim/non dim settings? Multicolored? Indoor/Outdoor? Just not sure of the proper output for each area

Also Im noticing for Hue lighting, you would need the bridge for these to work or just regular smart plug/and or alexa skill?
