moo like a cow,

you are now.

Not a part of any protocol.

So out of the tens of millions of interactions with the public you can make this blanket statement based on a these relatively limited tragedies? That's brilliant.

Why does a police officer even need that gun

Exactly

That's what I said, this wasn't some LA shootout

It's La Quinta Inn.

But if you never get punished, you have a license to kill.

I'm going to post this here too.

This is much more problematic than this isolated event.

In case no one has said it yet:

The shooting officer had been on the force less than two years and he was given swat tactical gear and an AR15 and sent in as point man to a public hotel to lead a raid in a situation with no Intel.

That's it terrifyingly insane.

It takes 3-5 years and 2 separate training stages to become a licensed plumber in this county but with less than 2 years police training well give you an AR15 and set you loose on the public.

Forget the racial aspects and the did he out his hand behind his back nonsense. Just focus on how this situation clearly and precisely shows how grossly negligent and incompetent our police departments are.

Then consider the fact that his police chief and superintendent testified that he was a perfect example of their training and he followed it to a tee.

Further, the officer who literally (yes this is the correct use of that word) commanded the crying and drunken victim, who was begging for his life, to:

"put his hands straight in the air and cross his left ankle over his right ankle and then crawl on his knees while keeping his hands up and his ankles crossed while ignoring all instincts to balance himself and I'd he faultered or moved his hands he would be shot dead immediately"

Was also testified to be following department protocol effectively.
TL;DR:

I today's America you aren't qualified to unclog a toilet with 3 full years of plumbing training and apprenticeships, but you are completely qualified to handle an AR15 in a dangerous blind swat tactical event.

Well this is bs. He was aiming a rifle from a hotel window. It turned out to be an air rifle, but how do you know? He reached behind his back and got shot

Wasn’t him. It was someone else.

He had nothing to do with anything, and lost his life for no reason.

No justice.

Dude reaches behind his right hip mid crawl? Kind of suspect? I might have capped his arse too! How hard is it to follow simple instructions in order to stay alive ?

The only thing suspect about that incident was the cop. He’s a coward and probably legitimately retarded.

Both of them were retarded!

I think I’ll remain skeptical of whether the air rifles were actually in his room or not.

Shaver can’t speak for himself anymore after all.

All of this is completely irrelevant

I work with a lot of cops, so I try to be understanding.... but this is inexcusable and this guy should be charged with murder

The cop's AR apparently had "You're Fricked" written on the side of it...

If I were a police chief, I'd fire anyone who did that kind of shite immediately. This isn't Iraq, you're not in the army and your gun isn't a toy, don't trivialize it.

because people aren't calling the police anymore

Only if absolutely necessary. In emergency.

Friend called cops years ago because a guest was acting strange at a house party. Cops came, ran everyone's information and arrested him on some bogus charges out of Florida. Took him forever to clear that crap up.

When he began crawling, they had already told him to show his hands, he clearly reached towards his pocket and waist band and got shot. Maybe they could have used a taser, but I'm not second guessing the officer. He leaves his house every night wanting to get home to his family as well. Most of us never have to worry every day that we might get killed doing our jobs. The guy was drunk waiving guns out a motel window at patrons..The old saying play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Maybe we can put to rest the debate that only unarmed black men are shot by police.

he was not resisting arrest. The officer's instructions were complicated and completely unreasonable.

This was murder.

The supervisors of this officer should be fired immediately for failure to properly train and evaluate his fitness for duty.

The DA should be voted out of office for losing this case. Slam dunk murder. You can quibble over sentencing, but not the crime.

And I’m pro cop as they come. My dad was a cop for 35 years. Even he wouldn’t have supported this.

I’ve encountered LEO’s like this before. Looking for any reason to detain you or a reason to write you up, or this prick, a reason to shoot you. The guy giving the demands wasn’t much better.
