re: Kiffin blasts Les Miles on Le Batard

quote:
a .500 program with a huge talent advantage is a failure.
Except we weren’t a “.500 program”. You’re cherry picking divisional record in the last three years, when our division happened to be historically stacked (the talent advantage of LSU in that time span is highly overstated).
Only once in Miles’ last seven seasons did LSU finish .500 in the SEC.
2009: 5-3
2010: 6-2
2011: 8-0
2012: 6-2
2013: 5-3
2014: 4-4
2015: 5-3
In what world is that a “.500 program”?
And when you factor in the SEC falling off the cliff last year, it’s highly unlikely Miles’ record looks any worse than O’s did if he was given the full season that he should have gotten in 2016 against a slew of teams that couldn’t stop the run.
That’s my biggest problem with the posters praising what we’ve seen as some huge improvement from what we had seen before. Point to a single win that LSU has had since the coaching change that would have gone differently if no change had been made?
While we weren’t a .500 program, I acknowledge we weren’t competing for division or conference titles the last three years either. That’s a fair criticism.
But we aren’t doing that under the new regime either. And that has to be acknowledged and criticized as well.

"I am the search Alleva" devalued this program by hiring a DL Coach without bona fide occupational qualifications. Alleva fired Miles with the explicit goal of hiring an Offensive-Minded Coach with the credentials to compete with Saban. That was not done.
LSU faced a Top 5 SOS in 2015 and Miles landed the #2 Recruiting Class. 2017 was historically low 42 SOS + or - whether you take into account SORecord and SOResume. The current Recruiting Class is #12 with 19 commits...Texas is #2 with 18 commits.
Talent does not win: Coaching/QBs/Offense wins.
LSU has had top 5 Talent Composite for 5 yrs and barely made the Top 20 this year and for the past 6 yrs, dropping out of it in 2014. His Offense was StoneAge.
You can choose to be a homer, Rantard, "posi-tiger", and back Alleva or you can look objectively and analytically and advocate for what is best for LSU.
After 16 seasons under the leadership of first, Nick Saban and then Les Miles, up to 2011 LSU returned to national prominence. Alleva may have given all of that back with the hiring of Orgeron. His top qualifications for the job seem to have been he was interested, he was available and he’s from Louisiana."
In reality, the criticism aimed at "O' is really just a shot at LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva who "rushed to hire a man with no other offers and a career 3-21 SEC coaching record."

Kiffin is like the Honey Badger...He don't give a shite what you think...and he is an Offensive Wizard with a great future. His interviews and Offensive analysis inspire a hell of a lot more confidence than what comes out of HERE.
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lane Kiffin said he has never been happier fishing with his kids. He can exit his office at Florida Atlantic University and take the second door on the left to see his brother, Chris, the Owls’ defensive coordinator, or continue to the end of the hallway to see his father, Monte, a defensive analyst and liaison within the school’s football program.
He brought in Kendal Briles and both consult with Art. He installed Briles "no playbook offense". FAU put up over 800 yds and 69 pts on North Texas in their 1st meeting and 650 yds an 41 pts in their C-USA championship.
Kiffin/Briles finished with the #9 Scoring Offense and got Votes from Coaches for being a Top 25 Team. And he is going Bowling.
For the very thin-skinned rantard drama queens it is without proper context to say "Kiffin blasts Les Miles". LINK
I listened to the very hilarious, informative, and FUNNY Podcast and when the show's hosts introduced him as Les Miles, then Lance as Al Davis used to call him, they prodded him to name anyone besides Miles you would take more offense to being called? Turning the tables on the hosts he said "tongue in cheek" maybe Sandusky. Then he added that any team he had could score more in the 1st Qtr than Miles could in a game.
Later in the show when asked to rank Coaches as Good Guy/Bad Guy he said he loves Orgeron as a 'good guy'.
He also said Saban was constantly chewing his arse and that Saban even went totally phukin' ballistic with a string of expletives when he saw Kiffin come out of meeting with his visor cap on. But his bottom line was he would have paid to work for ALA saying it was the best 3 yrs of his higher education, felt like he got a Doctorate to add to his resume and personal growth.
He made very explicit comments about what type of Offense and the type of college QBs needed: DTQB/Tempo/RPO if you want to win in the FBS because you have to score pts. He pointed out Sims has all the records at ALA but did not get drafted because he was 5'11". He is on record as saying Pro-Style is a non-starter because it takes too long to teach and is too complex for short-term College QBs..a waste of time and talent.
LSU has gotten worse at Scoring and at Defense since the "lightening-shortened-McNeese" 2015 season when they went 7-0 and entered the ALA game at #2 in the first CFP poll (their only CFP appearance).
Saban Death Stare arse-Chewing Caption: Jalen: Coach Saban said NOT to throw a pass. Kiffen: Listen Bud, he wears pleated pants. WTF, just let her Rip.
Saban is by far the best recruiter and always has the best players but Kiffin thought he made a big mistake dismissing him before the CFP championship game.

Miles/Cam's out-of-date boring offense was hard to watch and the worst 3 yr stretch in Miles tenure, 69% overall record dragged Miles winning % down.
10-10 SECW. 15-11 SEC record over 3 years with the #2 SEC roster, #5 national, with no Top 10 finishes since 2011 and unranked 2014.
When you under-perform your Roster strength by more than 15 Top 25 Ranking pts over 3 yrs you get Fired.
7 out 10 of the top 10 have never had a top 20 recruiting class, Herman was 73rd and finished 8th.
LSU faced a Top 5 SOS in 2015 and Miles landed the #2 Recruiting Class for 2016 (why he was retained). 2017 was historically low 42 SOS + or - whether you take into account SORecord and SOResume.
Next year is going to be an SOS equal to 2011 and that is going to test Alleva's survival skills.
So don't worry with an Offense ranked 71st this year vs Miles' 43rd in 2015 without the cupcake McNeese game...
what could possibly go wrong? With a recruiting class currently ranked 14th with 18 commits vs Texas ranked 2nd with 18 commits watch out for Jimbo and Chad Morris.

Man this has been a great thread. I see the Les Miles defenders are out in full force. Wow some of you guys are sensitive.
Edit: And oh btw I would take Kiffin over O right now at LSU. At least the offense would be fun to watch.

Um Tiger Poopoo, Arkansas passed, Tenn passed, Fla passed, Ole Miss passed, Miss St passed. How many other schools have to pass on Miles before you do know??
Paint chips are dangerous, son, quit munching on them.
Miles is required to inquire about coaching jobs so he gets his buyout from LSU.
Dumbass.

Let's see, one coach won 3 SEC West Titles, won 2 SEC Titles, played in 2 National Championship games, and won a National Title.
The other coach was fired from an NFL job, quit an SEC job after a mediocre year, was fired at USC, was Nick Saban's bitch for a couple of years and is the head coach at an obscure college in Florida.
Now guess which one runs his mouth? Lane Kiffin is a douchebag.

It is amazing LSU fans still hate one of their most successful coaches in the history of the program. All because he couldn't keep up with Nick Saban who is the most successful college coach in the last 25 years.
