It mostly has to do with the fact if you get in a fight now it will be recorded by someone’s phone. There are some people in our section that would definitely fight if given the chance. But in the 80’s and early 90’s you could always count on one for a night game.

I remember before a Florida game some Florida fans had a large bed sheet with something Florida on it. They started walking through the stands about an hour before kickoff towards the student section. An LSU student snuck up behind them and stole it and was running to the student section with them chasing them to get it back. They got close to the student section and everyone was ready to fight them. Didn’t happen but it was a great drunken college memory.

I feel very blessed to have lived through all my stupid collegeness (and beyond a little) before everyone had a cell phone. Holy cow we would all be in jail.

That happened in 2009 when i was a freshman. We had smartphones then.
