I know a lot of folks didn't want him. But, at least we ain't the shite show in Knoxville! Geaux Tigahs!!! Oh, I am also glad that we didn't get the Hick Dead Jimbo!!!!!

O is doing a lot better than Les had done in recent years. I support O, but it's probably not fair to expect many people to be able to compete with Saban, Gus, Jimbo, and Mullen every year. Add Miami and Richt to open next season. That's a tall fricking order for any coach.

I think he can and will compete. He isn’t given enough credit as a coach because he lost at a dumpster fire a decade ago. He is much more prepared to be a HC now. Good coaches don’t make it sometime due to the fit. Ex: strong at Texas.. I think O will get talent in and is a great motivator. He knows how to prepare a team. He was behind the 8 ball with a new OC and depleted Dline early. If he can avoid that next season maybe we see a 1-2 loss season. He is a good fit imo. Give the man a chance. He is 16-5 at Lsu as a HC counting the bowl. 16-3 vs everyone but Bama.

Do people just forget the absolute debacle of a hiring process that went on at LSU from the end of 2015 up to when O was hired?

Why even hire a coach? It’s not fair all these other schools have better coaches..

A) the comparisons of "at least we aren't ______" are good for the psyche, but in general pointless. We have our own standards and it is NOT "be slightly better off than ____". Our standard is to return to the Kingship.
B) Unlike many, I do not thing anything in CEO's past necessarily defines the future. Just like past victories do not define future ones. However, his past in some instances (Ole Miss) define the road map of what NOT to do. Any hint of that has me seeing red (e.g. micromanaging such as up to Troy game).
C) While hopeful and having seen several things that maintain that somewhat positive outlook, the tendency to fall back on old habits, that we've already seen, was a fair warning. Not doing that was a condition of employment. His gimme has been used up. It should be a hard line and continue to be a condition of his employment.
D) The recruiting class this year and next year will more than likely define his tenure here. Right now, can't say he is or is not getting it done. I'm looking for in 2018 some "making the best of it" due to it not being the best in-state class and filling some holes left by the previous regime and transfers. The 2019 class will be the "did he meet expectations" class.
E) I think he fricked up this last offseason. Team could've been better prepared, I saw a lack of accountability (coaches not getting the players maximized in S&C) and little bit of "being a friend and not a coach". I do think many of the transfers, not all, will be a good thing in the end. He was cleaning some fluff; I find it hilarious that Herman was getting kudos from this board for doing the same thing while for O it was "nobody wants to play for him". Saban did the same thing here and at Bama in his first years. So the tale of the tape will be who takes their place and how do they perform and does the team become "harder". So far, he's taken the right steps in that direction (transfers in, JUCO) but there needs to be more effort in being ready in this upcoming offseason.
F) I wouldn't have minded Jimbo at all. Or McIntyre, or Taggert, or Bloomgren, or a host of others. Les had to go and did not want Kelly, Herman, Morris. We made our offers and got turned down. The shite show at the end of 2015 was probably what scared many coaches. The hands-in-the-pie working against each other fricked any offers up and in a coaches eyes was a huge red flag. Yes Alleva was part of that, but he was not the causal factor. In general, our administration fricked up our athletics brand. We could be worse off realistically. That's where the comparisons to TN and John L Smith type tenures are valid. The what-ifs. 2015 fricked us for any big names because of stability and perception. We now have to deal with it. Orgeron MIGHT be able to get it done.
G) Most want to point to the Troy game as the low point. I point to the MSU game. The Troy loss was a direct result of the MSU loss. Offense was mistake filled and the defense was worse in the MSU game. It cause O to revert to Ole Miss Yaw... and then came Troy. The team, or many players, quit on the field in the MSU game. I would not have been angry if O had been fired right then and there. If that ever happens again, fire him right then and there. Turns out he righted the ship, but that is inexcusable. They didn't quit in the Troy game; just fricked up execution AND coaching. The real wake up call was MSU. I'm disappointed it wasn't.

but it's probably not fair to expect many people to be able to compete with Saban, Gus, Jimbo, and Mullen every year

So where is the guy that said he didn't see threads being started daily in regards to supporting O It's never-ending

CEO coached up LSU to getting BAMA in the playoffs.
Beating LSU was the only "Quality win" they had cause they damn sure didn't do shite else to get there except that. SAban needs to bow down in thanks to coach!
I love CEO here!

And that’s why we have O! Alleva thanks you for your complacency! Excuses already started.

I back him, but I am very concerned his is going F-this up. Commenting Publicly about Canada the way he did and saying he wants to run a pro-style offense will be used against him on the recruiting trail. Miles could not develop or recruit Quarterbacks. If O can't change this LSU will fall further down the pecking order. Canada's offense works he just needs the right Quarterback.

Well this is a website for LSU athletics, a place to support LSU. We don't always have to insult the program in every thread.

Who would have ever believed that Strong would have failed at Texas, or Steve Kragthorpe at Louisville? Sometimes perfectly good coaches don't fit at certain programs.
I may be in the minority here, but I'm convinced that if we had secured Pat Sullivan back in 1994, we would have 10 NC trophys in our treasure chest by now.

What. The. frick.
So lsu fired one of the 5 coaches coaching that owns a natl champ ring to hire a guy that can’t be expected to compete in the division because the coaches are too good.
Good to know.

It’s baffling the hoops the O supporters will jump through.

Only a "moon bat " would have a problem with the hiring of coach O!
