That was a less talented Tech team with a no experience QB. Texas was at home. With a lead. No excuse for that loss.

Im a UT fan and I agree. Thought it was a good hire, but I didn’t think he could walk on water like most. He had some bad losses at UH.

They switched QBs back to Shimonek, who led from when they took over the momentum

Strong didn't have the players on offense. Herman actually does. Way better than Tech's players.

Gotta wait a couple of years... This team is what that other guy left him.... Yes as will be better next year.... Not sure they will be derrel royalty.

I get the waiting thing but this Texas team was good enough to beat TTU at home. Herman was outcoached by the guy who starred in the notebook.

this was objectively a horrible loss and a bad first year

My point exactly. This was Texas Tech and not Oklahoma they lost to.

quote:I agree. People need to stop giving coaches two years completely free from criticism. It's always spun that the new coach is taking on a complete rebuilding project but a lot of times that's complete bullshite. Bobby Petrino was winning 8-10 games a year at the pinnacle of the SEC West and Arkansas fans believed that he left a completely worthless roster for Bret Bielema. Bert went 0-8 and we said oh well these players SUCK! You could about fill out an NFL starting lineup with players from that team.

How soon we forget

Year one you generally can give coaches a pass..but if they don't have that year two jump...it's likely they're a bust or not ready.

Looks like Herman plays up against decent opponents, but also plays down against bad ones. Not a good sign for a coach.

I am. I think it's absolute greatness. When they lose their bowl game, it will be 4 straight losing seasons.

ShaggyTexas is quite entertaining right now. The melt is pretty substantial.
