Vet said she was too old for conventional treatment (11 years) and only offered meds that would keep her drugged up, or as the Vet put it...."comfortable." Right now the only symptom she has is, a pretty nasty cough. She still eats and plays. I don't want to still the light from her eyes with meds before absolutely necessary. Does anyone know of anything that might help even a little?

Try marijuana, I'm being serious too. Not sure how you feel about it but there's been stories of absolutely amazing recovery with it.

I really would but I work in Law Enforcement and I'm pretty sure I can't get a medical marijuana prescription for my dog.

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I'm reading this thinking, yeah, everyone has a relative like that.

So far, the last quarter of 2017 has been hard on O-T dogs.

That's what I really don't understand. I've had her from 6 weeks old and she's never been around smokers.

Honestly, skip the meds. The moment he/she shows any sign of discomfort do the responsible thing and put her down. It might be harder for you but it's much better for the animal. You owe that to your friend.

Very sorry for the terrible news.

That fricking sucks, man. 11 years is a pretty good run. I am dreading the day when we start to lose some pups.

Man, I'm terribly sorry for that, a lot of folks on this board have been through it. Just be thankful your pup was ever around to fulfill your life anyways. They got everything and more out of life from you, and I think thats something to celebrate. All these good pups are somewhere waiting for all of us once we're done here, I just know it.

Try and get some marijuana oil to put in the dogs food. Try to give a high calorie diet to keep pounds on and monitor for pain and address accordingly.

I’m so sorry about your dog

All I can say is love and spoil her. Let her enjoy every one of the last good days she has. If she is still eating and playing than be thankful for every day she continues to do that.

Bring her to the places that brings her the most joy. If she is a lab I’m gonna guess that is near the water.
