I would purposely give you a sinus infection or bronchitis if you did this to me FYI

There's a trashy strip club about 5 miles away from work. I am actually shocked by how close it is to Las Colinas

It's right next to an I-Hop for plausible deniability.

It is for a new major customer order so it's legit.
But not major enough for you to ask the team to move existing items on their calendar? You need EVERY SINGLE ONE on the call? You can't send out a recap after the call for those missing and do a follow-up on Monday morning?
Truly sounding more like a 100pc chicken order from KFC for tomorrow....
This is not how you manage in a corporate setting....what if now, they don't listen to the information on the call, or they are pissed and give less effort...now you have a pissed off "new major company" and blackeye in the market. Congrats on bankrupting the company because you cant manage...

My boss told us not to schedule meetings today and work from home if needed
Posted on 11/22/17 at 8:28 am to CunningLinguist
Ohhhh, well bringing greasy shitty pizza makes it all better.

Yes. Mature folks work today without crying.

This is more than likely a troll, but I'll play along and pretend it's a real thing.
You might have people physically sitting in a chair in a meeting at 3 pm, but they won't be there mentally. Great job!
You may as well called a meeting at 3 in the morning.

What's with the people in here who think today is a holiday? I've worked for decades and never expected to get off early the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If he doesn't keep them longer than usual, what's the big deal?

I don't see what the problem is.
Too many people on this board feel entitled to things not deserved or earned.
His employees are already getting a four day weekend.
He provides the jobs and paychecks that allows them to enjoy Thanksgiving and afford all of the Black Friday goodies. If it were not for him, they would not be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Yet they feel they are entitled to something they do not earn. It is not enough for him to give them two days off in a row, probably with pay, they expect another half a day to a full day and blame him if he just wants them to work for their pay as they agreed to do when he employed them.

It's a small concession that likely doesn't impact most work and improves the quality of life of your employees on one of the biggest travel days of the year
I've never worked at a place that didn't let you work from home or have early dismissal

It isn't that people think today is a holiday...It is how you go about it...3pm onsite meeting because of people's calendar is a dick move. Obviously it isn't a holiday if their calendars are booked til 3, but he should move the meeting to earlier and ask them to reschedule the other stuff or make it a call, so that people are attentive and respect the meeting more for a "major new customer." It isn't rocket science.

You suck. I'm heading to Mr Bs at lunch for $1.50 bloody Mary's. If my boss scheduled a meeting I'd tell him to go to hell.
So you guys are complaining about someone making them work the day before a holiday and then walk into a business expecting them to be open, right?
