That’s what I’m thinking. The fact that he NEVER lets his dog around ours tells me he knew it would act like that. Which is what makes me even more mad.

So the fact that he recognizes his dog is dog aggressive and takes precautions to prevent a situation makes you mad? I'm sorry but you're just wrong here. Accidents happen and dog aggression is fairly common. He's been responsible and now has offered to help you.

First of all that sucks for your family, i hope everyone turns out ok in the end.

I don't know if that fact should make you more mad though - its understandable that he doesn't want to kill the animal he is attached to and unfortunately someone else in his life fricked up? I mean it is a shitty situation but he may not have known it would go exactly like that if the dog hadn't gone ape shite prior even if he had a feeling based on how it acted on a leash, etc.

Some of these people that take in rescues for example end up with aggressive dogs they really don't know how to handle well (not saying that is the situation here).

^ all of the above assumes this is an overly aggressive dog towards essentially all other dogs and not just a my backyard / territorial thing.
