Draymond trying to sound educated again...

This dude doesn’t know when to stop.
Does he realize that Steve Jobs wasn’t the ‘owner’? It’s a company with shareholders and investors.
And why does he suggest that the Warriors’ owners would insinuate that they own the players? If I work for a company and the owner walks in, I would refer to him as THE owner, not MY owner.
quote:
"Very rarely do we take the time to rethink something and say, 'maybe that's not the way,'" Green said. "Just because someone was taught that 100 years ago, doesn't make that the right thing today. And so, when you look at the word 'owner,' it really dates back to slavery. The word 'owner,' 'master' -- it dates back to slavery. ... We just took the words and we continued to put it to use."
quote:
"I'll use my owner, for an example. Once again, 'my owner.' Think about it," Green said. "The owner of our team, who I have a very close relationship with. If Peter Guber and Joe Lacob walk in, I'm going to say, 'Hey, here's my owner Joe Lacob; here's my owner Peter Guber.' Bob [Myers] is going to say, 'Hey, here's my owner Joe Lacob.'
quote:
Green said people refer to Steve Jobs as CEO of Apple, not the owner.

It's just discussion. Kind of what this country is based on.

Given the fact that he's demonstrated repeatedly that he's a complete moron, I'm going to go with no.

It's pretty hilarious. You can be a millionaire and have zero idea how the world works.

We call Michael Jordan the owner of the Charlotte hornets... He's black last o checked and nobody cared

What an idiot, this is simply hilarious

He's free to go work for someone else, or start his own business if he so pleases. These morons would rather the government own them.

Michigan State University should lose its accreditation.

The word owner dates back to slavery?
What the heck

Lol he so fricking stupid.
This speaks to the larger political climate today as it relates to social justice. You have a bunch of morons similar to Draymond Green screaming at people about what’s unfair about society when they don’t have a basic understanding of how society works. They are trying to dictate change that is based completely on their own ignorance.
Then you have people who are actually intelligent who are in charge who have to take them seriously in public for fear of being called a racist instead of calling them out on their absolutely mind-numbingly retarded bullshite.
And some even cater to these absolute morons to prove how not racist they are.. and then when those in charge cater to them what you get is the inmates running the prison :)

the phrase "professional basketball player" actually dates back to "overcompensated, genetic freak who puts a ball through a hoop for a living"

Green is the gift that keeps on giving.

The stupidity of his entire argument is that they don't "own" the players nor are viewed by anyone with common sense and no inherent agenda as property of the team's owners.
The owner "owns" the team, not the individuals that makes them up. If he wants to use the idea that their contracts tie them to the team and they are thus "owned" by the owner, this is just stupid since two factors are involved:
1) He can leave the team and forfeit his money at any time.
2) Non-compete clauses are standard practice in nearly every industry and most companies, so its not like his contract is different from anyone elses.
At Rice University this shite was blatantly stupid because of PC bullshite. They have residential colleges where faculty serve basically as heads of household for all the students there. They were called "masters" for as long as I can remember, but now that had offensive overtones to some and they decided to ditch decades of history and tradition and change it to "Majesters". WTF?

They refer to them as owners of the team cause they own the team.
They are his employers. Whatever he calls them is up to him. He’s being weird.
