A rail company in Japan has apologised after one of its trains departed 20 seconds early.
Management on the Tsukuba Express line between Tokyo and the city of Tsukuba say they "sincerely apologise for the inconvenience" caused.
In a statement, the company said the train had been scheduled to leave at 9:44:40 local time but left at 9:44:20.

If the trains are more than a set time late (I think 1 minute) they give all the passengers an apology paper for them to show their employer why they’re late.
And people think we didn’t need the bombs to force Japan to surrender.

Didn't they adopt these efficiency strategies after the rebuilding effort?

Those 20 seconds probably caused 1000 people to miss it or not able to get on in time.

I know we may chuckle at this, but Jaoanese trains are extremely punctual. It's something the American flying public, or heaven help the Amtrak public are nowhere near accustomed to.
Our lazy asses just accept it here, where in Japan it is not accepted. When you say you're going to do something, you will do it and at the time you promised. It's a pride thing.

How do their airlines handle weather delays or mechanical breakdowns? Serious question....I have never traveled to Japan.

It’s the same (or at least was) in Germany. Say what you want about Hitler, but he got those trains running right.

An apology is not enough. I demand the CEO commit hara-kiri.

I've never flown within Japan. Only into and from. My guess is that, A. they don't schedule 8 planes to leave the same airport at the same minute, thus guaranteeing a delay, even with good weather. B. have impeccable maintenance C. probably fly in worse weather than is allowed here.

I’m still waiting for an apology from a Chinese train company which departed at 1:00 in the afternoon and was supposed to arrive at my destination at 7:00 in the morning, but arrived at 5:00 in the fricking afternoon the next day.
On top of that they sat me next to a violent retard who assaulted half of the cabin, threw buckets of ramen all over the place, spit on everyone, and repeatably screamed “Jiayou!” over 5,000 times, and the train attendants would do nothing about it since she and her family already bought tickets, despite the fact that she directly assaulted a toddler and elderly people.
And lucky me, I sitting in the front car of a sold out train, in the second cabin was an annoying 18 year who wanted to practice his English with me. He would stalk me around every other cabin when I tried to clear my head or get a well needed drink. He would not accept no as an answer to practice his English. He wouldn’t follow me back to my cabin though due to the violent retard. So it was either a nerdy a-hole 18 year old who would never shut the frick up even when I told him to go away or an enraged chimpanzee in the middle of a 3 day crack binge.
This would have been national headline news in America, but just another day in China. That train company and the retard’s handlers would have been sued into an oblivion over here over that. If I die and Satan orchestrates a specific punishment for me, this will be it.

All we need to do to get Amtrak running as efficiently as these European countries is have the taxpayers fork over a couple of hundred billion a year.
Is that something everyone is on board with?

My taxes don't seem to be doing shite for me at the moment. Might as well get a legit public transportation system.
