Not sure I have the answer whether the cost outweighs the benefits, since his mid range numbers were not pretty, but yeah.

I would be shocked if more midrange would increase efficiency. Some of his drives are frustrating when he decides to drive regardless of the number of defenders and does not even look to pass out. When he isolates against a single defender and the paint is clear, he is good: too quick for the bigs and too strong for the forwards. When guards are hanging around in the paint to swipe at him passing by, he turns it over.

I think overall his drives are successful though. He turns it over, but he also scores and draws a lot of fouls. It also makes it so the opponents cannot guard him tight on the perimeter.

NBA Advanced Stats

This is a great resource for stuff like that. Amongst players who average 10 drives or more per game, Boogie averages 0.39 shots per drive (at a 50% conversion clip) and 0.30 FTA per drive, resulting in 0.65 points per drive. 0.65 points per drive ranks second among this group of players, only behind Lebron (0.85 PPD).
Some other notables here:
Westbrook: 0.39 PPD
DeRozan: 0.51
Harden: 0.56
Holiday: 0.48

Boogie's foul percentage is at an eye poping 15.7% (DeRozan is second at 13.1%).

Unfortunately his turnover % ranks third at 12.1% and as you would expect, his assist % per drive is much lower than the other players that meet the criteria, but he only passes on 21.4% of his drives anyway.
