Backed up on your own 5-yard line when Nick Saban KNOWS you have to throw is not the time to "risk shite" against Alabama.
We didn't "have " to do anything. There were almost 3 minutes left and we had two timeouts.

Great insult bro.

quote:Wrong. In the previous games, LSU lines, especially the OL, got their faces shoved in by bama. This game was a huge turnaround, and there's no reason to think we won't continue to hold our own in the trenches against bama. That wasn't true last year.
But that is no different whatsoever than any of the previous games in this series.

Wow there will be some jimmies rustled over this post. I just saw where it was 21-3 very late in the third quarter. It appears to me that this game was never in doubt.
I didn't see the game but I would swear it was a nail bighter by reading some of the posts .

How many times did Bama cross the 50?

The two thing that I'm most discouraged about are: - the number of Louisiana natives that had a big impact for Alabama and against LSU. - the talk that guys like Clapp and Wheathersby are gone after this season.
I agree with this. If O could convince Clapp to come back next year an anchor the line with the younger guys having a year under their belt, the O-line could be very good. And yes, he has to make significant strides in the recruiting. These are definitely 2 areas of concern.

If LSU's QB situation was stronger, I might agree with you.
Yes, they would HAVE to throw. I don't understand how this concept is even in doubt. I don't mean throw every play, but of course they'd have to throw to drive 95 yards in less than 3 mins. That's what I mean. In that particular situation, Saban doesn't give a shite about giving up 4 or 5 yard runs. He's going to have his defense vigilantly waiting for the pass.

I got blasted in the game thread for saying we were playing scared when we ran the clock out at the end of the first half with two timeouts while down 11 points.
You got blasted because that is a stupid thing to say. Bama would have run the clock out in that situation. Any smart coach would do the same. If you get aggressive in that situation you have a bigger chance of giving up points than of getting points. Bad call unless you have a Drew Brees behind center!

No more so than we already did. Just admit it, it was a chicken shite strategy. We were in no position to just be content giving up a possession.

It's embarrassing the level of football IQ that you lack. Steve Spurrier would have run the clock out in that situation. That did NOT lose us the game! Again, I question if you've ever put a helmet on (besides when you ride your scooter).

Yea, down 11 and have the ball with almost 3 minutes and 2 time outs. Better just take a knee.

I played peewee just like you.

We lost by 2 TDs genius.
If Danny hits Chark, who was wide open on that 1st drive then you’re at 24-17
If Battle makes that sack and they’re in 3rd and 25 then they likely don’t score a TD on that drive in the 1st. 17-17
We were right there. Sorry you’re too damn dumb to see that.

You said we win with two plays. At a minimum we'd have needed 3 since we'd have needed a two point conversion (not counting XPs as plays). But yea, I'm the one that's too dumb.

we were pinned down the entire game by their punt game
IMO we should have gone for it on the 4th down inside their 10 down 14-0. That and the pick that turned into a TD for them were the 2 biggest plays of the game. The missed passes were the next 3 biggest plays.
They made plays, we didn't. Need to get better, but there was reason for encouragement. And i'm not saying that as a "moral victory". A loss is a loss, but not all losses are created equal just like not all wins are created equal.

I certainly disagree with you on the Poli Board, but we're on the same page here.

We saw nothing Saturday night that we haven’t seen in every game in this series for a decade.
This is utter bullshite.
We saw an O Line that controlled the line of scrimmage for the most part. We haven't seen that since 2011-2012.
We saw a defensive line that dominated the Bama o line for a lot of the game. With all of the good lines we've had we haven't dominated them on our defensive LOS since probably that night in November 2011. No doubt there were some miscues on Hurts runs but still it was a lot better than it has been.
We were able to run the ball effectively. With all the greatness that was Leonard Fournette he was never able to run the ball effectively against Bama. Hell he never sniffed 100 yards.
The narrative right now is that LSU is truly a QB away from beating Bama. Hell the players themselves said as much. This hasn't been true since Jan. 2012.
It is very impressive to see a segment of this fan base down on the other segment for seeing something positive in a loss to Alabama. I don't know about you, but to me the "wait til next year" line actually means something this year. It hasn't in this game since 2012.
The bad in this game was QB play period....we can thank our previous clown for that with his recruiting tactics and philosophy when it comes to that.

Alabama had two drives that began in LSU territory, three more that "crossed" midfield, and punted once from the fifty - unsure about which side.

It is what it is. The QB play was the main difference.
