Seasonal and Limited Release Beer Thread - What/When/Where
Posted on 11/2/17 at 4:19 pm

Hey Fellas. I did a search and didn't find any threads on here that tracked the releases of the rare and more sought after beers out there. So I thought it would be worth getting a running list going as the releases are announced or happen. Posters can just note which beers, the timing of the release, and the area they're in.
So I'll get it started
Surly Darkness - I'm a bit behind on this one as it's already been released, but my local Chicago Binny's has had a bunch available. You just have to ask for it and can get two at a time. We're sitting on six bottles of the '17. LINK
Central Waters Barrel Aged Quad - I know Central Waters isn't a nationally known entity, but their barrel aging program is awesome. It's to the point where their Cassian Sunset is not put out on the floor and is gone within a day or two. This one is supposed to be awesome. It's being released this week in Chicago (their Space Ghost should also be hitting shelves this week). LINK
Bourbon County Stout - Probably the most well known release, hitting shelves everywhere on Black Friday...at least in Wisconsin and Illinois it is. LINK
I saw on twitter that the barrel aged ten fidy is currently getting canned up, but I haven't seen anywhere when it's going to start hitting shelves.
You guys have any to add?

Grab me a bottle of that darkness please. Think I still have a '16 in the fridge. Agree with you on central waters. They do some great stuff. Have some cassian in the fridge and the barleywine going back to about '12. I found that quad to be a bit thin last year though

Got a lot of breweries here. Releases every week. I can't keep up with them. Especially small breweries have such a limited supply that they can't distribute their seasonal releases.
Block 15's Super Nebula never hits stores. Neither does most of what De Garde makes.
That said, my favorite time of year is Fresh Hop season. Almost all of the breweries release a fresh hop beer. Some are a fresh hopped version of their regular beer, and others are stand alone beers. They change it up every year.

Definitely a lot of breweries and releases. I thought this thread might be good for the highly sought after stuff but anything works.

I'd definitely have one to trade if it worked out. Or shite, I'd just sell one at cost to someone who would appreciate it.

My local spot got some Central Waters in this week. Are these the ones your are talking about.
Beers
Edit. I thought the Off Color was Central Waters. Is that worth picking up?

You should definitely grab a space ghost. It's not super rare, but it is a limited release and I like it a lot. It's got a little spicy kick. Beer Advocate rating is "exceptional": LINK

CBS will be available everywhere (yep, all 46 states we’re available), including our Grand Rapids taproom, on draft and in 750mL bottles beginning on December 1. It will have a suggested retail price of $24.99 a bottle.
So BCBS one week and CBS the next.

Snagged a couple tickets to the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers here in the city tomorrow. No Russian River or Founders, but damn if this isn't an impressive list of attendees.
I'm going to put the percent of male attendees at 92% and the percent of attendees with beards at 95%.

Anyone have luck on bcbs? Buddy said there were a couple thousand people waiting at the Chicago Lincoln park binnys, so he bailed and went to the grand location. Ended up with 8 regular, some barleywine, coffee, and a couple vintages. I think the barleywine may have been vintage. Got 16 in total. Real nice haul.

Trillium has their TrillBomb on tap today only. Their bottles sold out faster than any release they’ve ever put out.
May be driving there just to enjoy a pint.
