Looking for advice from those who have been. Taking my buddy who was a Big 12 All American to the game after we did Tiger Stadium for Bama last year.
We are driving in Saturday morning and staying in Birmingham after the game. Any advice on parking, restaurants, bars, etc. would be much appreciated. What's the must see's around Bryant Denny/UA?

I always like to go eat at Rama Jama right outside the stadium

I know I am a Bama fan, but hear me out. Gonna help you out on parking. Especially since you are staying in Bham Saturday night.
Park at University Mall on McFarland Blvd. The parking itself is actually free, but they bus you directly to the stadium, and pick you up afterwards, for only $10 per person. Every time we go to a game, it's the option we choose.
University Mall is also several miles closer to the interstate than all of the parking lots within walking distance of Bryant-Denny. It allows you easier access to hit the interstate to Birmingham, and you get ahead of a ton of traffic.
Everywhere you will want to go as a visitor is within easy walking distance of the stadium, so you won't need your vehicle to get around.
Not a ton of visitors know about this option, so I try to let people know as much as I can.
Sorry for intruding.

Second favorite SEC road trip behind UGA. Enjoy yourself

I'm just going to give you my advice:
Don't stay in Birmingham for the game. That is the direction 90%+ of the Bama fans are coming from. If you are driving in from Baton Rouge, even in the morning, it's a longer drive than you think. I would personally just stay in Meridian the night before and night of the game.

Out of every stadium, it is absolutely the worst as far as ear-splitting piped in music, and screaming from the jumbo tron. Otherwise, the stadium isn't especially loud or intimidating. Pretty average.
Their fans are actually okay. Nice campus, good spots to tailgate. It's generally a good trip.

On campus the Bear Bryant museum is a must see for any football fan. Parking near stadium was $40 in neighborhood. Getting to interstate after game approximately 1 hour. The Birmingham traffic is bumper to bumper. Traffic to Meridian smooth sailing.

I go to this game every every time. Stay in Meridian. Drive day of game to Tuscaloosa and exit on I-359 and go into downtown to Univerisity Blvd and park there. There are bars around you can watch TV and get taped up for the game. Walk down University Blvd to the stadium, about 20 minutes. Exit same way after.
BDS used to be a good venue for a game but I think they were the first with the ear splitting rap music and jumbotron cheerleading that seems to me to violate SEC rules about artificial noisemaking. It seriously hurt LSU’s effort two years ago in the first quarter. A QB could always go under center and be heard at BDS, but not now with those speakers and jumbotron (which don’t get turned on for the Bama offense.)
If you’re there for an LSU win you will be treated to a remarkable experience—tens of thousands of people exiting on those ramps and absolute dead silence. Then you realize that what you say to your friends is being heard 30 people away in every direction.

You won’t find as many corn dog places as you’d like.

If you are coming back to BR, stay in Meridian. Everyone goes back to Birmingham after the game, and traffic is terrible.
We always park downtown. They have a couple restaurants and bars where you park and the walk to and from the stadium isn't terrible. You also pass through some shopping areas and the strip, which is always decent on gameday. The best part is there isn't a ton of traffic getting on the interstate.
There is also a bus that isn't very expensive that can take you from downtown to the game, but I would be hesitant to ride a bus anywhere after the game. The bus lines are always really long.
If you go up on Friday, do Nick's in the Sticks. Stop by Steel City Pops, even if it is cold.

Was there for 9-6
Here’s what to expect:
Frozen corn dogs thrown at you
Shitty commercialized tailgating
Worse people
TONS of piped in music
Not being able to see bc of fricking Pom poms
A lot of “frick you roll tide” and the like yelled at you as you are walking away from them.
Shitty fans
The best time of your life if there is a miracle and we win

I also recommend parking downtown and staying in Meridian. I normally walk to the stadium but after my brother's experience last weekend, I don't think the shuttle is a bad option. He didn't leave until the end of the game and the line was already long but he made it to his car in about 15 minutes. IIRC, he said the shuttle cost $2.

Hey,Bud!

yea,the drive back to Birmingham is pretty rough. If you think of Tuscaloosa - Birmingham like say Baton Rouge - New Orleans - there is no Airline Hwy to take some of the load off the interstate.
There is a back road Ala 215 to Bessemer, but it would fall into the tl;dr category to explain.
