LSP or municipal? If local, call the courthouse and ask what you can do to keep it off your record. Pay the thing and keep it off record b/c that cop will show up.
The Basin Bridge will either be an LSP trooper or a local sheriff's deputy. Either way the ticket goes to the local district attorney's office. Call the DA to see if you can get the charge reduced to a non-moving violation. They will most likely have you complete an on-line driver safety course and you're done.

Similar shite happened to me on the Basin Bridge once. I was doing the speed limit and a guy flew past me. I knew there was a cop ahead because my wife was a few miles ahead and called to warn me. The a-hole cop pulled both the speeder and me over and said I was doing 80. I told him I had my cruise set on 60 and his response was "tell it to the judge." Black piece of shite state trouper must've been having a bad day.
It cost me $232 dollars, but I figured it would cost me more to take a day off to go to court and fight it.

Maybe not even that. Last time I got a ticket on the basin was from LSP and they popped me in Iberville Parish. I went to the courthouse before my court date to see if they'd be willing to make a plea deal and they had a pre-typed letter to the DA requesting that your ticket be reduced to a non-moving violation in exchange for a plea and full fines. You just filled in the ticket number, the clerk filled in the fine amount, you paid your fine, and you just went on your way and that was it. Of course, Iberville is on the East end of the bridge and OP got tagged in Henderson, so he'll be dealing with St. Martin Parish, not Iberville. Iberville has actual industry, St. Martin not so much.
They live and die by those tickets on the West end of the bridge, so OP's experience may vary.
EDIT: Yes, I know. I can't read.

Group of cars?
Go to court, when the officer testifies, ask him how many cars the radar gives a reading on. The correct answer is "one". Follow up with "Which ONE vehicle was the radar giving a reading for?". If he says it was your car, ask him to explain what evidence lead to that conclusion.
This can, and has worked for me. Twice.
There is a gamble here, though. Everybody in the room will probably be annoyed, and the judge may go ahead an rule against you based on that.
Bring cash.

Well, he was telling the truth. The side of the interstate is not the place to argue about a speeding ticket.

Seems like this Mikelbr fella doesn't have any idea about what a big deal you are..

He said he was going Westbound and just got on the bridge, that would be Iberville (the East end of the bridge).

I got popped with one of these a few months ago. Read the back of your ticket. Just pay the fine to get it moved to a non-moving and save yourself the hassle of going to Plaquemines, LA (NOT the Parish!)

This is exactly what happened when I tried to contest a ticket.

Yeah, except I wasn't fricking speeding. Some douchebag was flying past me and slammed on his brakes as soon as he saw the cop, so we were side by side and the officer assumed we were both speeding.
I wanted to exercise my white privilege, but the damn officer was black and didn't want to hear it.

Unless they hit you with laser (that's what hit with on the bridge).

That's great but they mostly use Laser on the basin, especially if it was LSP. With a laser gun the cop could easily get multiple readings from multiple cars.

Yeah, but I can't read, so OP may just want to mosey on down to Plaquemine. Give me the fine and a non-moving violation any day instead of taking the risk of fighting a moving violation and losing.
Posted on 10/24/17 at 9:40 am to MiloDanglers
Go there and have it reduced to a non-moving violation. You may get lucky and not have to pay, but going to get it reduced and have it remain off of your record for insurance purposes is at least worth the trip.

They don't have to show up for the first date. You plead guilty or not guilty or no locum.
Fight it. Let him provide a dash cam to prove it was you. Most jurys now will side against LEO.

Last one I got was Jefferson Parish. I just called the DA and asked if there was anything I could do to keep it off my record.
They just had me mail in the ticket with a money order for the fine.

Jury?! It's a traffic ticket, not murder.
