Bama is leading the nation in rushing defense, only giving up 66.4 yards per game.

Only 1 team this year has gained more than 75 yards on the ground against them this year and no one has gained 150 yards.

The last 5 years, LSU has gained the following against Bama:

2016: 33 yards on 27 attempts,(1.2 YPC)
2015: 54 yards on 26 attempts, (2.1 YPC)
2014: 183 yards on 56 attempts, (3.3 YPC)
2013: 43 yards on 31 attempts, (1.4 YPC)
2012: 139 yards on 49 attempts, (2.8 YPC)

over. 4.5 ypc.

i'm pretty sure we'll try to run a lot. I am optimistic it won't be just lining up in a run formation and running into the middle. if we are to have a chance, we must make 1st downs and have good TOP and score. we must hold Alabama to some FG's instead of TD's. we cannot afford to settle for FG's,

Under.

You have to set the rush up with the pass against Bama and I don't know if we can throw the ball effectively enough to do that.

We average 4.5 yards per carry, we win the game

I think it can happen as a team, but I don't see Guice/Williams going for 150 combined. The WRs will be the difference, if we get there at all.

Under.

The only way it gets close is if Alabama happens to be asleep on a jet sweep and someone rattles off a 50-60 yard run.

Unfortunately, we just haven't had the stars align correctly vs. Bama the last few tries.

Under Miles, I think we had the talent to move the ball against their defense, but just not the correct scheme.

Now, I think we are in a better place scheme-wise but don't have as much talent, esp. at QB and O-line.

I would have liked to have seen how a Canada-led offense would have worked vs. Bama when the talent was at a higher level a couple years ago.

Ouch - forgot how bad we got stuffed trying to run the ball. Painful reminder.
Canada has GOT to find a way to get Guice in open field. Screens, inside jet sweeps in motion - line him up at slot with Williams in backfield??

That's nowhere near an absolute truth.

To assume our defense is going to be able to slow down the Alabama running game is a HUGE assumption. Ole Miss ran it very well against us. Auburn, ran it well. Troy ran it well.

LSU has to run it better than it should on paper...and stop Alabama's run better than it should on paper.

And, even if it does that, we're probably still in a coin flip type of game. We will still have problems putting points on the board, and Alabama will still be a threat to put points on the board.

I think the Tigers rush for maybe 85 as a team at best, but net 65 yards after sack totals are counted in.

That's what people need to remember. Auburn, UF, Troy, and even Ole Miss ran the ball extremely effectively against LSU, and most of that happened despite them not having dual threat QB. Bama's offense will be an entirely different type of monster, and I don't see LSU giving up less than 250 yards to them on the ground.

It needs to be over or we are in trouble.

Even if it means 50 tough yards from our RBs and 100 yards on jet sweeps mostly due to a 75 yarder on a Bama breakdown.

Way under. Having said that, Colorado State (after falling behind 17-0) put together a few long sustained drives against Alabama.

12 plays, 55yds (Field Goal)
11 plays, 85yds (Touchdown)
Cut the lead to 17-10.
Then first drive of second half, 8 plays, 42yds ending in an INT.

All three of those drives, CSU started throwing the ball (1st, 2nd, and 3rd downs). I know nothing about their offense or their QB.

But it always seems to be that teams that hurt them can throw the ball.

Why did you leave out the game stats vs Bama in January of 2012?

Over. Canada is not an idiot. Les and co. had the same game plan no matter who we were facing. The Ole Miss game showed me that Canada will scheme and adapt, and more importantly Ed allowed him too. I think we get close to 200 on the ground and about 180 through the air. Tigers final get it done 20-17!

Les miles attacked their strength which was dumb which made LF look like trash. I seriously doubt Canada keeps running up the middle
